Deer Hunting is a Good Thing
By: Austin Bailey

You’re driving home from a movie with your best friends and you’re doing about 60 on a country road you’ve known all your life. All of a sudden, out of your peripheral view, you see a couple of deer heading straight for your cars path. You hit the brake to try to avoid them and narrowly miss. You think to yourself how lucky you are that you didn’t hit one. What you didn’t know is the couple of deer you saw used to be a pack of 4 deer. A week earlier, two different hunters each took a deer from that herd. If it wasn’t for the hunters, you probably would’ve hit at least one deer. Deer hunting isn’t as bad as it is portrayed to be! Hunting controls the deer population and along with predator population and the number of accidents involving deer decrease because of good ethical hunting.
You would be amazed at how fast deer reproduce! According to Steve Johnson from The Deer Hunting Guide, during

It is explained well in the ‘Benefits of Hunting Deer’ section on ehow.com. If you think about it, if the deer population increases, then the predators that prey on deer will thrive due to good food supply. Even more accidents happen to things that prey on deer! It might not be as much, but it is still an unneeded thing. Also, increasing any animal’s population will cause it to spread out to different areas for habitat. One of these places may be a city where people are everywhere. Needless to say there are very stupid people in this world and they will do stupid things to animals. Any animal is not afraid to defend itself and you would be surprised at their strength. People could get very hurt being so up close and personal to animals. Therefore, decreasing deer population also decreases predator count; decreasing accidents, money lost, etc.

As the population of whitetail deer continues to rise in Kentucky, chances of taking one increase as well. In “Kentucky Deer Season 2013: Hunting Forecast” Darren Warner of OutdoorLife.com states that “The current statewide population estimate for Kentucky's deer herd is about 900,000 animals.” Due to the abundancy of deer, during the apocalypse they will be a great source of food for you and your group. However, after the kill, most hunters do not know what to do next, and those who do often do not take the most ethical route to processing a deer. Compocalypse students need to know how to efficiently process a deer because venison will provide large, protein packed meal during the apocalypse and can also provide skin to make clothing out of,…

The history of white-tailed deer in Missouri shows positive and negative influences humans can have on wildlife. During presettlement times, the whitetail was abundant in Missouri, especially in the more fertile and diverse habitats of northern Missouri. The influx of European settlers to Missouri during the last half of the 19th century coincided with a rapid decline in the deer population. Unrestricted market hunting and habitat destruction, such as cutting, burning, farming and grazing forest lands, contributed most to this decline.…

First, the population of the white-tail deer is entirely too big. In fact, there is a total of twenty-five million white-tail deer in the United States alone.1 Because of this enormous number of deer, they are constantly on the move. This means that they go straight to the roads. Ten thousand white-tail deer get hit by cars and die each year while they try to find new eating grounds.2 Not only is this wasting meat, but it causes severe damage to cars. Deer can even cause car accidents on the highway, killing humans as well. Also, deer are constantly getting pushed into the city because of little food due to the over-populated area of deer. Unfortunately, this causes a hassle in major cities when people try to catch the deer without harming it. Debra Fluitt, a citizen of Tulsa, Oklahoma, said, "Last year a big white-tail deer came into my very own house as I was unloading groceries. When the police tried to get it out, it destroyed over $800 worth of my belongings and finally jumped through the window." After the deer are captured in the city, they are taken back into an environment where food is scarce because of the over-populated deer that are already there. That deer then dies of starvation.…

Should the Gray wolf be taken off the endangered species list and should they be allowed to be hunted like the common coyote? Scientific evidence does not suggest that wolves should be hunted in Michigan. Moreover, every reason that has been offered for why we should allow wolf hunting is misguided. They are hunted in areas where they have become highly populated for example in areas such as Montana and Idaho because their numbers have increased over 5000 they are killing off the deer and elk population. By controlling the wolf inhabitants it would insure that the wolf does not starve because they ate all their prey.…

Does usually have one or two fawns a year around late May or early June. Whitetails are so populated because today there are not many bears, cougars, wolves, and coyotes around like there was back in the day. Whitetails love deforestation because it gives them cover from predators and to keep their young safe. Deer numbers increase a lot every year, because not as many people deer hunt anymore and that causes the deer population to go up. Controlling the deer population is important because whitetails leave droppings everywhere, also when they die their carcasses sit there and rot until something eats them. Deer also destroy people's gardens and sometimes deer attack humans. Every year deer cost the U.S 248 million dollars a year in damage to gardens, house yards, and fields. Whitetails also eat 15 million tons of food a year. Sometimes they also eat plants that are very rare, if so those plants may vanish. Also, whitetail deer carry diseases that can kill livestock and other animals. To control the population better, the government has set laws focusing on how many deer and what type of deer you can shoot. Deer are becoming a worldwide populated and domestic problem that is almost impossible to stop.…

Many animals endure prolonged, painful deaths when they are injured but not killed by hunters. What the author fails to consider is that most people that hunt are not hunting to just kill most are trying to feed there family or put meat in there fridge. According to peta the delicate balance of ecosystems ensures their survival if they are left unaltered. Natural predators help maintain this balance by killing only the sickest and weakest individuals. Hunters, however, kill any animal whose head they would like to hang over the fireplace including large, healthy animals who are needed to keep the population strong. Although this may be true the ecosystem is going to kill off populations a lot slower than kill animals such as deer are self, killing isn't bad if you using the deer for good causes. On private lands that are set up as for-profit hunting reserves or game ranches, hunters can pay to kill native and exotic species in “canned hunts.” This is true, but people that go out and hunt in canned hunts usually after they kill a deer they give the meat to share your harvest and help families in need.…
