Argumentative Essay: Everyone Should Have A Dog
I believe that everyone should have a dog. As dogs have feelings just like humans. They have a way of “knowing” if something is wrong with you, like your upset or angry. I believe that once you step through that front door and see a dog sitting there wagging their tail as fast as they can, because they are excited to see you, that most if not all of your problems disappear in that moment. I believe that some dogs can be better friends than human friends are sometimes. As dogs don't judge you on what you look like, and they don't care about your past. Whatever the breed type all dogs love you the same. Whether they are big or small, fluffy or not all dogs love the same. I believe that dogs are good companions for people, they can be trained

The topic I choose to write about is “Pit Bulls – should this breed be banned?” Pit Bulls should not be banned. Over the past years in the United States, Pit Bulls have been portrayed as a breed who is extremely dangerous and untrustworthy that some States are banning ownership of this breed. This breed should not be banned simply because of unfortunate events. It is not until recently that the negative images these dogs are facing by the media started. One may hear or read headlines in the news stating “Child mauled by a Pit Bull,” or “Owner killed by a Pit Bull,” yet the media does not disclose that certain dog’s upbringing…

When I was looking on the computer for a nice-looking breed of dog to have for a pet, I immediately fell in love with the American Pit Bull Terrier. They are absolutely adorable. I went to pick up two puppies that same day. When I got there, I was a little hesitant to enter the house. There was about huge blue pit-bull who weighed about a hundred and twenty pounds staring right at me. They assured me that it was fine to come in and as soon as I did, the big blue ox jumped right up on my chest and started to lick me. That is when I knew I had to have one. They are intimidating to people who don't know much about them, but are loyal to their owners. I bought two of them and loved them to death. They were the perfect pets. They make excellent guard dogs and know who is supposed to be on your property and who is not. I think that the…

“Wolves are the dogs that stayed behind.” The world is a cruel place. A thing that can be treasured in one instance can be a threat in the next. For many people, we stare at the natural world and see its rugged beauty and wish that we could captivate it for ourselves. The case is no different for our modern dogs. Bred from the “empty canvas” of a wolf, we’ve modified, altered, formed, transformed, reformed, and remodified wolves to be one of the closest companions we have still today: dogs. But through all of our perfecting and reshaping that we’ve done to our best friends’ closest ancestors, wolves have prevailed, echoing their famous legacy still throughout the world. Wolves, now in danger of extinction, are one of the greatest controversies…

When many people see a pit bull or the breed is mentioned they instantly stereotype them as being aggressive and monstrous beasts, this however is not the case as all! Pit bulls have been breed over the years as fighting dogs. The owners have raised them to be extremely violent and attack other dogs by treating them harshly and training them to do so at a young age. However, over the years people have wrongfully stereotyped pit bulls because their owners have trained them to be violent. The only dogs that do are the ones that have been trained to do so by humans. The humans are the ones who have created this so called “monstrous beast”. Pit bulls are the world’s most misunderstood breed of dogs that have been wrongfully stereotyped against for many years.…

Pit bulls — referring to dog breeds such as American Staffordshire terriers, American pit-bull terriers, American bull terriers, and numerous other breeds with similar genetics — cannot lock their jaws (StubbyDog). Pit bulls are not ferocious beasts. In fact, according to StubbyDog via stubbydog.com, “pit bulls score at or below average for aggression when compared to other dogs.” Pit bulls, like all other dog breeds, are not naturally aggressive — they’ve been given their bad rep due to the fact that people who fight dogs for sport — “dogsmen” (Dogs Bite) — prefer pit bull breeds to other canine families due to the fact that pit bulls are undeniably a strong and powerful breed. However, “no single neutered” — or spayed — “household pit bull pet has ever killed anyone” (StubbyDog).…

People say pit-bulls are dangerous and that they are monsters; however, humans are the real danger and the real monsters. Pit-bulls should not be blamed for their owners mistakes; therefore, people should not blame an entire dog breed for the few who have been trained to be aggressive and mean. The owners should be at fault, not the breed of the dog; the breed’s owners have raised them to be aggressive and mean. Although, in certain people’s opinions, they are mean to others, but they are actually great dogs to have as pets. Humans have always been the real monster in these situations, yet most people do not see it that way. Society sees only the worst, they will notice when pit-bulls fight with others dog’s or act aggressively towards a human; however, they never blame the owner. There are owners out there that train their dogs to protect them or be aggressively with others dog’s; thus, due to their idiotic move, society looks…

Animals from creation have been an essential integral part of human beings. They have frequently been, either directly or indirectly, used by humans to achieve their needs. Hence they are important part and great asset to humans. These animals do have lives different from that of humans and equally have some similar characteristics with humans like emotional feelings. This very fact puts humans in a difficult position of determining the amount of respect and regard that should be accorded to the animals. Some people agitate that animals should be granted same equal rights as human beings. Inasmuch as I quite agree that animals should be granted some rights in order to be free from cruel treatments by humans, the issue of granting them equal full rights as enjoyed by humans should not come up. An objective review of such factors as tradition, cultural believes, religious, socio-economic, and medical as well as salient natural features that distinguish animals from humans like morality, and ability to…

Domestication is the change of an organism on the genetic level to better suit human needs, humans began this practice for thousands of years ago and it continues today but at a significantly lower rate. As observed by Francis Galton, the British scientist, “It would appear that every wild animal has had its chance of being domesticated, that [a] few… were domesticated long ago, but that the large remainder, who failed sometimes in only one small particular, are destined to perpetual wildness.” (as cited in Diamond, 1998, p. 165). As social life has changed and the demands on newly domesticated would have shifted, it is possible that new species are candidates for domestication in the near future.…

Animal abuse happens all around the world. Different types of animals are abused and a diverse group of people abuse them. Hurting an animal is not right; some animals cannot even defend themselves from humans. Abuse can happen in urban and rural areas. Some surveys suggest the average person who abuses animals is male and under 30 and the average person who hoards animals is female and over 60. The most reported animals that are abused are dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. The most abused though was dogs and the most common type of dog was a pit-bull (“Animal").The majority of the United States animal abuse comes from animal testing. It is horrific seeing news footage of animals being killed. It is also horrific that some of your tax dollars could fund some experiments that kill animals here in the United States. The Environmental Protection Agency requires by law that if companies want to make a claim on their products it must be tested to ensure it is true. Things like shoving dogs into enclosed rooms where they cannot escape to test pesticides on them and testing fluoride on lab rats where they eventually killed are examples of…
