Argumentative Essay: Is College Worth It?

High school students should think precisely about college, whether if it is worth going to a specific college they are thinking about, or the major they think or decide to major in. Every high school student should know what they are dealing with before going to college. Despite the student debt and tuition costs rising, college is worth it because you get to climb the economic ladder if you pick a good major that pays good and you can be more educated and see the world differently than others, do not be a robot! People that decide to get a postsecondary education either go to college because they want to be educated and think for themselves, or they go just to climb the economic ladder. What this means is that people just go to college for social mobility. According to “Bennett and Wilezol” in the article “Is College Worth It”, “One graduate who hoped his major in political science would help him find a job with the government is currently unemployed and sitting on $100,000 in debt”
According to the article by The Economist, “Is College Worth it?”, there was a quote explaining the fact that every degree isn’t worth going for, since their value is useless to the economy. “But not all degrees are equally useful. And given how much they cost-a residential four year degree can set you back as much as $60,000 a year-many students end up worse off than if they had started working at 18” (1) This shows that not every degree is worth going for. It says that if you go for a degree that has low economic value, you would do worse than a person that would have just started working at the age of
