dangerous and difficult, especially for kids. Kids are so little and weak which makes it much more difficult for them to work in such harsh conditions and work tough jobs in general. “The boys working in the beaker are bent double, with little chance to relax...The air at times is dense with coal-dust...after the boys leaves the beaker, he continues to cough up black coal dust...Fingers are calloused and cut by the coal and slate...While I was in the region, two beaker boys of 15 years...fell or were carried by the coal down into the car below. One was badly burned and the other smothered to death.” Also, if kids are working an average sixty hours a week, they aren't getting the proper education. Without the proper education while they are young, they won't be successful in the future. (Doc B)
I would spend $3,000,000 on helping create laws for meat packaging because of the unsanitary working conditions, to food could be deadly to people eating it, and we need better food quality.
“There was never the least attention paid to what was cut up for sausage...There would be meat that had tumbled on out on the floor, in the dirt and sawdust, where the workers had tramped and spit...There would be meat stored in great piles in rooms; and the water from the leaky roofs would drip over it, and thousands of rats would race about on it...the packers would put poisoned bread out for them; they would die, and then the rats, bread and meat would shoveled into carts.” Just imagine eating meat that had the dirty floor, rats, and even poisoned bread. The working conditions were unsanitary and our meat that we eat are being packaged with a million different germs. The meat we eat could even be DEADLY! There are so many germs on the meat that we could get extremely sick. We think we're paying for good meat but really we aren't. If there are regulations made for packaging plants then we would be paying for good quality food. (Doc

I would spend $1,000,000 on stopping deforestation because we are loosing a lot of trees, the trees are unsafe from humans, and the trees can't defend themselves, therefore we should help. It has taken more than 3000 years to create the trees in the western woods. In !650 about seventy five percent of the united states was covered in trees. As of 1920 less than half of the trees are still standing.“Any fool can destroy trees. They cannot run away; and if they could, they would still be destroyed - chased and hunted down as long as fun or a dollar could be got out of their barks and hides.” People cut down trees for money and fun. Since trees can protect themselves from people we should help them by creating laws. (Doc A)
With the one million dollars you're giving me i will help create laws for child labor, help create laws for meat packaging plants, and stop deforestation. My arguments are important because these things will help america become more safe. People come to america to be safe and free. And if these things aren't changed then america won't be considered safe.
Sincerely,
