I have the Hope Scholarship. It only covers 1/3rd of my tuition not including books or any other necessities. Be that as it may, the scholarship knocks off a pretty big portion of tuition and I know for sure, if I did not have it, I would have taken out multiple loans. I used to have a Pell grant; in my first semester, I was awarded a small grant of two thousand dollars, but, before I could receive it all, I was told that my parents made too much money even though we still struggle with day-to-day finances. That was four years ago and we make even less now than we did then, at the same time I still don't have an offer for another grant.

I'm right in the middle. I praise the system for the help I do have, however I wish I had a little more. Loans are simply not a good option for me due to the national average of student debt, besides the goal of college was to make sure I earned a great future -- not to ensure that I am in debt for most of the second half of my life. It seems that you must have a great support system if you want to get out of college debt free. Thankfully I have that and, even though we're not the richest, I believe that someway my family and I will find a way to get things
