Many factors can influence why an immigrant would immigrate illegally into the United States, but undoubtedly, their conviction and determination to migrate makes them disregard the governmental processes of the United States government. Illegal immigration has many negative aspects politically due to its societal and economic detriments. Illegal immigration effects society through the displacement of individuals who cannot legally generate income which usually leads directly into poverty. Poverty has generally no positive effects upon society, thus making this an extremely pertinent point in the argument for the control of illegal immigration. Another downfall of the poverty associated with illegal immigration is crime. A major factor currently in immigration from Mexico to the United States has been an intensifying dangerous influence from the Cartel. The dangers associated to the Cartel cause paranoia into the influence the Cartel may have in illegal immigration. Illegal immigration also defaults upon a fundamental duty of citizenship which is paying taxes. The undocumented immigrant worker is only able to pay taxes through sales tax, there is no way to tax their income. The commonality of the national debt makes the costs associated with the wall’s construction less appealing to citizens regardless of their political preference due to the understanding that the wall’s funding would come through increased taxation. Other effects that have been overlooked about the wall would be the actual physical impediments that would come with the construction of such an imposing physical structure. One of the major physical impacts of the wall would be the impediments the wall could create for the traffic patterns of individuals who commute through the border for work and return home. The impact this wall could play in traffic patterns could also impact both nations economically due to the tensions that will arise due the wall’s presence and denial of Mexican immigrants. Somewhat related to the issues of traffic of humans and cargo through the border, the impact upon nature and wildlife will also be detrimental to the environments that the wall will impede upon. The natural migration of wildlife and natural erosion will be altered due to the wall’s presence. Currently, there are barriers between the nations however illegal immigration still occurs through many different forms of smuggling. Due to the ineffectiveness of the barriers already in place, a larger wall will not extensively diminish the frequency, and sequentially, effects
