FIRST FACT: POKEMON IS AN AMERICAN WORD
Many of you probably thought that Pokemon was a Japanese word, but it is not. It was actually originally known as Pocket Master, but Nintendo decided to morph the word and created Pokemon. It was a genius idea by Nintendo because it rolls off the tongue better than Pocket Monster.
SECOND FACT: HOW THE SERIES WAS INSPIRED
The creator, Satoshi Tajiri, has mentioned how this series came to be. He spoke of the fact that as a young child he would hunt for bugs, and then trade them with his friends. THIRD FACT: HOW MUCH THE FRANCHISE HAS MADE
Back in 2013, Nintendo revealed that this franchise had grossed over $4 trillion worldwide.
Not only this but over 200 million games have been sold. To put this in perspective, if you laid 200 million games on the ground side by side, it would run for about 16,000 miles.
