We have found that in many places you can pull Snappers up one right after another just before the sun goes down. If you have your fire going they make an easy, delicious dinner on the grill, just bring a little aluminum foil and your all set! Another one of the great attractions to kayaking on the Indian River Lagoon is the abundance of wildlife in the area. It is not out of the ordinary to see a pod of dolphins swimming by. Each time they surface they blow air through their blow hole, which can be pretty startling if you weren't aware they were so close. It is quite the sight when they surface near you as you are paddling along, especially because you are at water level with them and they are such impressively large animals. In the winter time, which has perfect weather for kayaking in Florida, there a lot of manatee in the area too. Huge and awesome they look a little intimidating but they are very docile and curious, coming right up to your kayak to get a good look at you. There are also many sting rays in the area along with gigantic sea turtles, we have spotted some at least five foot across, with a head that is bigger than a…

This higher brain function can account for attacks such as the one by Kasatka who on two occasions, 1999 and 2006, attacked veteran trainer Ken Peters during live shows in SeaWorld San Diego (Hardgrove 97). In 1999, another whale named Tilikum made headlines when the mutilated body of a twenty-seven year old man was found floating in the water after he’d snuck into the facility and Tilikum attacked him (Hardgrove 98). Tilikum had previously killed a trainer in Sealand of the Pacific in 1991 before he was moved to SeaWorld, but that wasn’t cause to keep him away from performing. In 2010, Tilikum, now weighing 12,000 pounds, pulled trainer Dawn Brancheau by her ponytail, a standard for SeaWorld’s female trainers, and pulled her into his pool. He isolated her in the center of the pool by dunking her underwater and dragging her by her leg which he gnawed on. He bit at her until she died, throwing her up into the air like a ball, while an audience looked on and cameras filmed. He would pull her to the pool…

Seaworld, to this day, has a whale who has been brutally taken from his home, put in two different new homes, and in result to this situation he has killed three people. Despite his clearly shown aggressive traits, he has been used as a breeding machine for seaworld's past years, making 54% of the orcas at seaworld share his genes. This is why there has been a big debate since 1970 on whether or not these parks and entertainment should be allowed. These parks are making the animals sick and hurting them; Not only that, but they are teaching the people unrealistic expectations about the relationships between humans and animals. These animals lives are being shortened in captivity.…

The Tampa Bay Area is a sport fisherman’s paradise. Just within the area there are 200 species of fish and many types of shellfish. In-shore fishing is a dream because the waters are comprised of shallow sea grass beds, mud flats and mangroves; these environments are perfect feeding grounds for many popular gamefish like, Redfish, Sheephead , Snook and Seatrout. I would compare the Tampa Bay Area waters like a fully stocked kitchen for all the Gulf marine life; High tide is the dinner bell and all the fish come running in from deeper water for mealtime! With so much coastline that has a generous amount of piers and bridges sprinkled along it, it’s never hard to catch a bite even if a boat isn’t at your disposal. Off the outer Gulf shores, deep-sea fishing is readily available and very popular here. Many fishing charters businesses thrive here in the Bay Area because the waters are teeming with wildlife and people want to get in on the action. Spearfishing is also another option because of the many dive sites and reefs. The “St. Pete Open” is proof of this; it is the largest spearfishing tournament in the world held right here every year.…
