Introduction Most people in America on a regular basis don’t really think about trying to live their lives based on the American Dream. Most people have dreams about what they want to do in life, but not all achieve those dreams. Statistic shows from recent surveys that only 16% of Americans end up doing their dream job. Many Americans have very unrealistic views of the American Dream, stuff the ordinary American could not have or do. When interviewing my subjects I realized that the American Dream is not about materialistic goods, but family, and following your dreams.

He told me about how before his car accident, he had lots of hope in the American Dream. He said, “When I was working on cars for big companies like Shelby, I thought my career might get bigger and better, but then when I got in my car accident, everything fell to pieces.” Pretty much his whole life was taken from him after that car accident. My mom didn't work, so it was just my dad making money to support us. When he got in his wreck he broke his leg, so he couldn't walk. In his job it requires him to stand over the hood of a car, or under a car for hours at a time. So he could no longer work. That discouraged his Idea of the American …show more content…
They have been married for 14 years, and have also had another kid. Ricks career in the field of medicine continues all the way until today. Rick owned his own practice in Leavenworth Ks, until he sold it to St. Lukes Medical in order to spend more time with his family. He tells about how before he sold his practice, he worked until midnight some nights on stuff, and barely got to go on family vacations because he had to work so much. He tells me now, “I have everything I could ever want, in my family and in my work life.” Even now having 5 more kids in his home he still seems so happy. Rick is such a bright spirited person, and even at the age of 54 he is still just as energized as he was 30 years
