In May 1781, French Admiral de Barras arrived in Rhode Island to take command of the blockaded fleet there and brought word that Admiral de Grasse would be bringing the long-awaited French fleet later in the year. General George Washington met with French Lt. General Rochambeau to plan operations up to and after Admiral de Grasse arrived. They decided to operate around New York City where Lt. General Henry Clinton was located, although Washington feared that Maj. General Nathanael Greene could not keep Lt. General Charles Cornwallis occupied in the Carolinas and would soon move into Virginia in an effort to link up with Clinton.…

Parent although a simple word, there is a large debate as to how one should raise their children. All decent parents show love and want what is best for their children. There is no right or wrong way to parent a child but, parenting comes with challenges for example whose happiness really matters and who should be able to decide what's best for the child's interest. There are two common methods of parenting, Tiger parenting and Western parenting. They both love and want to help their children reach their greatest potential, but they take to very different paths of success. Tiger parenting is more rigid, whereas Western parents take a more relaxed path.…
“Wolves are the dogs that stayed behind.” The world is a cruel place. A thing that can be treasured in one instance can be a threat in the next. For many people, we stare at the natural world and see its rugged beauty and wish that we could captivate it for ourselves. The case is no different for our modern dogs. Bred from the “empty canvas” of a wolf, we’ve modified, altered, formed, transformed, reformed, and remodified wolves to be one of the closest companions we have still today: dogs. But through all of our perfecting and reshaping that we’ve done to our best friends’ closest ancestors, wolves have prevailed, echoing their famous legacy still throughout the world. Wolves, now in danger of extinction, are one of the greatest controversies…
To compare the distinctive features of primate parenting, we first need to know what they are. Primate parenting features including, feeding their offspring, along with teaching them vital skills in order for them to obtain their own food. An example of this would be the variety of tool using, or culture, used by several primates (using rocks to crack open nuts, or using a branch to get ants and consume them) not only demonstrate the learning ability of these creatures, but also the importance that parenting has when dealing with the development of the offspring. Apart from the learning behaviors that are thought to the offspring, other distinctive parenting features come into play, for example primates usually give birth to more than one offspring…
For many years, the debate of whether animals have moral rights or not has been thrown around court rooms, social media, and protests. Arguments are made defending animals and suggesting that they should be protected and recognized in human society. Medical researchers are scrutinized and harassed by these supporters for their part in animal testing and medical investigation. Scientific breakthroughs have been made, which has transformed the development of modern medicine. Lifespans have elongated and lives are being saved in every corner of the world, yet somehow, this is still debated as if it is the wrong thing to do. Research animals are pertinent tools of the medical world and humans are entitled to use them as such. As human beings with…
All of my life I have had a tremendous amount of passion for all animals, and in most instances I've found that I have felt more comfortable around them than I do people, finding myself drawn to their many personable qualities, such as innocence, loyalty, lack of judgment, and overall cheerful disposition. As I have grown, my care for animals and their well being has as well, and my eyes have been opened to the horrors taking place all throughout the globe involving poor, innocent animals, who are unable to defend themselves, against the very people they are meant to find companionship with. The controversy over the practice of utilizing animals for the purposes of testing has been an issue for the past 30-40 years, and with it, comes the moral debate. However, the topic of ongoing question, whether animal testing is right or wrong, lies within your own personal morals.…
Animals from creation have been an essential integral part of human beings. They have frequently been, either directly or indirectly, used by humans to achieve their needs. Hence they are important part and great asset to humans. These animals do have lives different from that of humans and equally have some similar characteristics with humans like emotional feelings. This very fact puts humans in a difficult position of determining the amount of respect and regard that should be accorded to the animals. Some people agitate that animals should be granted same equal rights as human beings. Inasmuch as I quite agree that animals should be granted some rights in order to be free from cruel treatments by humans, the issue of granting them equal full rights as enjoyed by humans should not come up. An objective review of such factors as tradition, cultural believes, religious, socio-economic, and medical as well as salient natural features that distinguish animals from humans like morality, and ability to…
Should animals have rights? A lot of people would say no because humans are the top 10% of the food chain,so does this give us the right to take away animal rights? The answer is yes , imagine a society where humans, who are superior to animals, have to abide to the same rules as an animal. Animals should not have a bill of rights because God gave humans superiority over other animals, Animals don't respect our rights, If animals have rights, then so do vegetables, and humans and animals differ greatly.…
Animal cruelty is a huge issue in America. Animals everyday are beaten, starved, and abandoned. But one of the biggest problems of all is what pet stores are doing and getting away with it. Everyday bird's wings are clipped, cats are declawed, and most animals in these stores are from mass-breeding facilities called puppy mills.…
I believe that parents play an irreplaceable role in the lives of their children. This vital relationship positively impacts a child's physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It is deeply valued by millions of American families. The movie, Big Daddy, is a about a young boy that has been sent back to live with his biological father. He did not know that he had a son, but found out shortly after his mother passed away and the boy was brought to his home. The father, played by Adam Sandler, takes on the responsibility of raising the five-year-old little boy. In the movie, he adopts a permissive parenting style and allows the child to make his own decisions and rules. He does not give his son boundaries or guidelines. The movie depicts that not having rules, guidelines or parental expectations will result in the child making the right decisions for himself on his own. However, both our text book and research shows that although these type of parents tend to be warm and supportive with their children, not setting rules and boundaries for children to follow usually results in children who are rebellious, impulsive and domineering. Adam Sandler does not say no to his son, which is a main characteristic of a permissive style parent. Sandler was simply a resource for his son rather than a role model that should be communicating what is to be expected from his son. Permissive style parenting over a long period of time will result in teens that may have difficulty with self-control and…
A Tasmanian Tiger is also called a Thylacine. Tasmanian Tigers are extinct. They were killed because people hunted them. The last one to survive was in 1960. They were marsupials but they were carnivores. There’s debate whether or not they should be brought back through cloning. Tasmanian tigers should not be cloned. This should not even be a topic for discussion. If they were brought back then there would be an overpopulation of them, cloning could be harmful, and a price would be paid not only with money but with God too.…
To an outsider zoo's can appear to be various environments, harsh or beneficial, for example, but is there more than meets the eye? Many zoos will use conservation as a buzzword because it will catch attention and draw you to believe things as said in Rob Laidlaw’s, “Zoos Myth and Reality.” On the contrary, Michael Hutchins, author of “Zoos Connect us to the Real World, states there is much coverage of the positive nurturing of zoos. Overall, today zoos are more educated and take utmost care of their animals, plus 90% of accredited mammals were born in zoos, and now zoos are really striving to improve the lives of their animals.…
When we think of a worldwide catastrophe, we usually think of earthquakes, ice age, and nuclear war. But one that should be recognized with much more severity is poaching. As international editor Richard Swift observed; “We are pushing a hundred species a day, four species an hour, into evolutionary oblivion”. Hunting and capturing animals has been practiced even before recorded history. Where this can be understandable to most in a survival perspective, there are people in this world who abuse this action and slaughter animals for other disrespectful reasons or no reason at all. This is identified as poaching and it should indisputably come to an end.…
Many animals today are becoming extinct or have already been considered endangered. Although there are many animal breeders in the world, the death rate of animals does not equal to the number of animals born each year. Animal cruelty is what makes our world less diverse because many animals are being beaten, left on the streets to die without care, or are getting killed for unlawful reasons such as animal testing. People do not realize how important it is to keep these animals safe because without animals the world would be a completely different place and that might not necessarily be a horrible thing, but it still is not right or just to harm these animals.…
