“We lost a living link to an important era in our nation's history. But, we have also lost a man of quiet dignity, who dedicated his final years to making sure the sacrifices of his fellow ‘doughboys are appropriately commemorated.” –Eric Shinseki (Secretary of Veterans Affairs)…
I was informed today that being a peacetime veteran does not reduced my benefits, and this will be corrected in a few weeks.…
It is important to keep honoring our veterans because they have sacrificed so much for this country. Also we honor them because we need to tell them how appreciative we are of their dutiful service to our country. Even the president honors our veterans. Each year the president or one of his representatives lays a wreath on The Tomb of The Unknown Soldiers in the Arlington Cemetery every Veterans Day to honor those veterans. Even though the first unknown soldier was laid to rest there on Armistice day on the year of 1921 this ceremony still continues. This is one way that shows just how important honoring our veterans…
A legal federal holiday on Veterans Day is commemorated in United States on November 11 on annual basis. The purpose on the back end to celebrate Veterans Day is to render prestige, tribute and honor to the folks who willingly contributed in US Armed Forces. The rationale to call this day specifically a veterans day is that the armed forces are also called as “veterans”. Speaking globally, the Remembrance Day and Armistice Day coincides to forge out one day which was then called as Veterans Day in 1954. Ultimately, the crux is spurted out in the shape of Veterans Day.…
Our Veterans are selfless people who served our country to protect our rights, and I believe everyone should at least honor those incredible…
In 1918, President Wilson established November 11 as a day to show honor and thankfulness for those who have risked their lives for our country. This day was significant because it was "The War to end all Wars,” World War I. This day was mainly set aside to show pride to our veterans of World War I. In 1938, Armistice Day, Veterans Day original name, became a legal holiday. In 1945 just after World War II ended, congress changed Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Since then, Veterans Day was created to show pride to American Veterans of every war, with the oddity of a few years in which it was celebrated every year on a Monday, November 11th.…
It is very important to keep honoring our veterans because if they didn’t fight for our country we would still be ruled by England or any other country that tried to fight us. Veterans play a big role in shaping our country and it is our job to recognize that. It takes a lot of tears and heartbreak to end a war, like WWI that ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, and those who survived and died are worthy of the recognition. If you have never talked to a veteran about their experiences in war, try it sometime and you might see how valuable they were in the making of the U.S. I think that it was smart that Dwight D. Eisenhower changed it from Armistice Day to Veterans Day because like I said it is very important to keep…
Veterans are considered heroes because of what they did for our country, they sacrificed their lives for our freedom. They are also considered heroes for all of their bravery.I know some veterans don't consider themselves as heroes because of what they go through but as long as you fight for someone's freedom that is a hero.Veterans are just like us,they have families and friends that care about them but they don't see them everyday so they don't have a say you love them and that can be hard for most people and that is why you should never take love or people for granted so you shpould take the time out of your day to tell someone that you love them.…
“Veterans Day” Veterans are my heros Veterans are cool They served and protect our world Like no one else could What would life be like without them Probably bad and dangerous I can't even imagine life without them I thank god for veterans…
become a person of value”. ~Albert Einstein.Veterans are not just men and women who went to war. Veterans are the cause, we live in a safe country they are the cause, we walk on the sidewalk laughing and enjoying what life brings us. But the question in my mind is we laugh, play, and learn, what about Veterans they don’t laugh, they cry they don’t play they fight they don’t learn they die. We are not grateful we don’t respect the lives we live in every day. But that's not the point, we don’t even remember the reason we laugh, play and learn, if I were to tell you the number of people who died for us to have a bright future those numbers won’t matter the thoughts will. When I think about Veterans day I think about people who came back from the war and live a happy life, but I was wrong after learning the truth. Veterans day was the day we respect what we lose but even more we respect what we gained. That is what Veterans day means to me.…
There are many reasons to acknowledge America’s veterans. No matter a person’s personal opinion on wars, past or present, veteran’s military work should still be acknowledged. Veterans should be acknowledged because nothing in your life can compare to the time they have spent giving us freedom. Most have spent many years of their lives over seas protecting the United States of America. If a person was born in America, they have lived in a free country ever since, and it will stay that way thanks to the military and its veterans.…
Veterans are considered heroes because they fight for our freedom. The veterans don’t have to fight for our freedom, but they do. They risk the lives for us and all we do is disrespect and treat them like they're nothing and yet they still go out there and risk their lives for us. Did you know that 22 veterans commit suicide each day. Why, well it's because they feel like they're nothing and the have know on to go to and in their eyes the only way to end this suffering is to die. I got this information from the V.F.W in May26, 2016. There website is www.vfw.org/. They also made a cause called the 22 which helps out the veteran that are struggling and the families that lost there soldier because of suicide . So you need to give respect to all…
If you fought for a country, don’t you think you should be treated kindly when you came home no matter what race you are? Black people who fought in World War II were still not treated nicely when they came home. It wasn’t just at home, Black soldiers were discriminated against overseas by their fellow soldiers. These “fellow soldiers” were White. Not only were Black veterans still discriminated against when they came home, They were treated even worse than average Black people. Black veterans should be treated just as nicely as White veterans.…
The reason our veterans are important to our history is because they were the ones who fought for our freedom and independence from England. The Continental Army was created in 1775 and commanded by General George Washington. We won the War with Britain in 1781 allowing us the freedom to form the Confederate States. In 1789, the Constitution went into effect and made the first President (George Washington) the Commander-in-Chief of our military.…
With Veteran’s Day coming around the corner I decided to write about why veterans should be respected in our country. Some people believe that we shouldn’t have as big as an army or just that they don’t like veterans because they were in a war. This should be different. Those soldiers didn’t choose the war they were going to fight in they go out and fight for our country with everything that they have. These soldiers should be respected because of their courage, loyalty, respect.…
