In many cases, animals are locked up in a tight dark room with insufficient lighting, without companionship, and enough food or water. Animal rights appear to be severely failing in zoos. According to the Animals Asia Foundation quote on the Huffington post “Bears are regularly whipped and beaten with sticks, elephants are prodded with metal hooks, and tigers and lions are defanged and declawed, causing them chronic pain” (Huffington Post, 2010). Unfortunately, because of the cruelty from captive environment, many animals suffer from mental stress, physical injury that leads to animal life shortage. For people to understand, there needs be programs to educate people, many people have a vague idea of how animals live and their hardship. Especially, educating kids who are in young age is essential, because later in their life, they could make positive impacts on the work of saving animals based on their childhood experience. Young kids are curious, through their curiosity, the idea of caring animals can be easily implemented in child’s mind than adult’s. For the purpose of education of conservation, numerous zoos around the world are taking an action to support the idea of education, for example in 2004 Robinson, Phillip T. stated that “Some zoos have taken on the task of educating the public by creating hands-on laboratories that local schools can use to teach conservation biology” (Robinson, 2004, p. 275). With the help of educated people, there will likely be a progress in the future.
