Argumentative Essay: Protecting Adult Crimes
I agree with you, it is very sad that our youth has to go through abuse and be placed in certain situations when committing crimes. Even though some of them are committing adult crimes, most of them should not be treated as so. The stories about the kids who were tortured is very heartbreaking and there should be something different done to separate them from the adult criminals. Our youth have rights and I believe it is up to us as adults to protect them no matter

On July 15th 2008, Caylee Anthony was reported missing by her mother, Casey Anthony. Casey Anthony said that her daughter was kidnapped by their “Zanny”, but it was later found that she had lied about having a nanny. Weeks later, Caylee’s body was found in a wooded area not too far from their house and Casey was being held for the murder of her daughter. Casey claimed her daughter had accidentally drowned in their pool and as a result, she became panic-stricken and did not know what to do, she acted as if the drowning never happened. The prosecution believed Casey drugged her daughter with chloroform and suffocated her by situating tape over her nose and mouth. A single strand of hair was found, in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car, which demonstrated post-mortem banding which was found to belong to Caylee Anthony. Along with the strand of hair, Casey’s car gave off an effluvium of a corpse but she claimed the odor was set in place by her…

“In a world that demands justice when the unthinkable becomes reality, there are no easy answers when that reality involves minors. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world and remains the only nation that, in rare circumstances, will sentence its juveniles to life without parole. Is it a solution? Does it work? Do we care?”…

Many people around the nation have different views on the subject of juvenile justice. Some believe that despite the children's age, they should still be tried as an adult if a serious crime is committed. On the other hand, some believe children should not be tried as adult even if they commit a rather serious crime. I firmly that these children should not be sentenced to life in prison despite the serious crime that they have committed and should have another shot at life when their brain is fully developed.…

“Five years ago juveniles were being tried for shoplifting, now we have murders, breaking out car windows … it all ties into gang activity. Six to eight months ago, a juvenile I represented said he wanted to be in a gang, so he robbed an elderly woman.” Juveniles should be convicted as adults for violent crimes because when they commit a crime and don't get caught or have any consequences after, they are basically walking around our streets with no one to notice they are criminals. If they did it once, they can do it again and get away with it. A crime is a crime no matter what the age of the criminal, they need to be punished.…

Sending young offenders to adult prisons means that we as a society do not care for them, and means we have given up on them. We are basically setting them up for failure in the adult prison, because they have no chance of getting out, because of their undeveloped mind constantly telling them that the jail life is necessary for survival. Instead of sending them to these prisons, we should send these young offenders to juvenile hall, where they could be treated with rehab, and a second chance at life for the mistake they’ve committed at such a young age. And if they show no sign of wanting to improve, and love their old habits, then, and only then should they go to adult prisons. But until then, they should not be tried as adults, and go to adult…

Juvenile receives crucial punishment, how could you give a twelve year old sentenced to life without possibility of parolo. Now that is just heartless to do something like that to a juvenile. Juveniles shouldn't get sentenced to life without parole for committing a crime at a young age. A punishment is necessary but, sentenced to life without parole at a young age is devastating. Why should they even continue to live? They are young and deserve a second chance to rehabilitate. All we do is just throw these kids in prison and forget about the. What these kids need is treatment especially, those raised in violet environments. Sometimes they grow up unaware of what's good or bad. It may not be there fault. I'm not stating that they don't deceive a punishment, what the need is a punishment but also the support of a person.…

“The advocates also said juveniles in adult facilities are more likely to commit suicide or be physically and sexually abused.” (Trying juveniles as Adults in NJ). If the juveniles commit suicide then they’d end up losing their lives. There's no way to get it back. That's why the guards take away their shoelaces and belts, so they would have nothing to use as a weapon against themselves or anyone else. If the juveniles were sexually abused, they’d probably not want to interact with other humans for a while. If a girl or a boy were to be sexually abused they would definitely be scarred. Children in adult prisons are 5 times as likely to be sexually assaulted, twice as likely to be beaten by staff, 50 percent more likely to be attacked with a weapon and 8 times as likely to commit suicide as children in juvenile facilities. The juveniles would hold that fear of being abused again in the future and not want to even be near their own family. If the juveniles would have to be charged as adults then they should be put in a cell individually, away from others. Especially if the juvenile is the one that would be the one to sexually abuse…

The only choice they have it to either redefine the offense to much lesser one or redefine as not being a child. Children are considered to have different competencies from adults and furthermore they have different potential to change their behavior compared to adults and that is why they need to be tried separately”. Putting these kids in adult prison with these hardcore criminals would be super dangerous, these kids could be sexual abused or anything worse. These kids are not just getting a cell mate they are getting a person that they can look up too, and that is not good they could get back out in the world and commit a serious crime because of their cell mate that they had in adult prison. Children have time to grow and learn right from wrong and it is certainly not going to take a cell mate that is in adult prison to make that change for…

The death penalty for juveniles is a serious injustice issue. The death penalty for juveniles began with the English common law and the first who was executed was out of Massachusetts in 1642. Over the course of history, children could be tried in court as early as seven years of age. Children are vulnerable to so many different things throughout their young lives. These things involve peer pressure, stress, controlling their emotions, and more. More than likely, juveniles sentence to the death penalty come from homes where they are already physically, mentally, and emotionally abused, low income backgrounds, and other types of unstable environments. In the juvenile justice system, most believe the juveniles can be rehabilitated with effective counseling and mentoring programs. Sentencing a child to the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment. These children do not think of the crimes alone. There…

These harsh conditions are cruel and unusual. Juveniles should not be treated as adults because their safety is at danger. Not only is their safety in danger, but they are also more likely to commit more crimes when they are released. Studies have shown that juveniles have a 30 percent higher chance of committing more crimes when they are released than kids who are kept in juvenile detention centers. According to a National Research Council panel, “About 80 percent of juveniles admitted to prison are released before their 21st birthday, and being jailed with adults does not seem to discourage them from returning to a life of crime.” This is unjust because the purpose of treating a juvenile as an adult is to show the individual the severity of his crime, yet punishing him as an adult is putting his safety at stake, and not helping the individual rehabilitate into a person who is capable of reasoning. A juvenile is not fully mentally developed as I said before; therefore, he has the opportunity to develop into a law-abiding adult. Compared with youngsters in juvenile detention centers, youth housed in adult jails are nearly eight times as likely to commit suicide. This is unjust because it is exposing an individual who is not mentally developed to cruel and unusual circumstances. The research paper also reported that juveniles “are five times as likely to be sexually assaulted, and twice as likely to be beaten by staff members. And they are 50 percent more likely to be attacked with a weapon.” I believe that it is inhuman to expose a juvenile offender to these circumstances. Justice is not being served if juveniles are exposed to violence and come out of jail worse than when they…

“terrible person.” However, he’s or she could have just been 18 while their partner was 16 and then they were convicted. Males go through so much hate and judgment more than women if people found out they are a registered sex offender. People think their mindset is all about messing with kids, and how nasty they are. On the other hand women have a better chance of explaining themselves before the public gets to judging them. They get to explain into further details about the case, and why the verdict came to the decision, also and get to explain convince the people that it was a onetime thing and how it will never happen again. Everyone makes mistakes, but people believe that males are held to a higher standard and that they should know right from wrong, but women have the window to make as many…
