“Chores allow children an early and sustained opportunity to experience responsibility. Independence and self-sufficiency in life are tied, ultimately, to mastery of two types of responsibility: personal responsibility and social responsibility” (Rowland, 2000, Brown University Child & Adolescent Behavior Letter, 16(6), 1). Though it can said many times, different ways that chores can help your child it is also said that you should never ask your child to do something that you yourself wouldn’t do and they should be used by busy parents to spend more quality time with their child. Essentially helping both the child grow from the responsibilities and allowing the parent to spend more time with the…
Do you think kids should get paid to do chores? I think kids shouldn’t get paid to do chores. According to the text,”chores are part of family life”.This shows your part of a family,so you should help out. The text said, “ chores help teach kids responsibility”. This is another reason why kids shouldn’t get paid to do chores. However you do chores not for a reward, but to help out”. This shows readers chores teaches kids responsibility. This is why I think kids shouldn’t get paid to do…
If one child is praised (for example, for tidying up) others are often influenced to copy or join in so that they, too, will receive praise and attention. For young children, the reward must be immediate so that they understand the link between it and the positive behaviour. It is of little value to promise a treat or reward in the future. Similarly, star charts and collecting points are not appropriate for children younger than five years old. There are problems associated with rewards in that some children and young people may behave in a particular way purely to receive the reward rather than from an understanding of the need to consider safety, others and their environment or enjoying what they have achieved for its own sake. The type of reward also needs to be considered; for example, is it desirable for children and young people to be given sweets as rewards? Some parents may have strong views about this. Rewards might work in the short term, but do not always succeed in the long term. They might even undermine lifelong learning by encouraging children and young people to seek reward, rather than be disposed to learn because something is…

Over the past decades, what has continued to be one of the most debatable issues in the world of sports is whether or not college football players should get paid. My honest opinion is football that players should receive a certain proportion of money because of the service that college athletes provide to the institution they attend. In addition, they should be rewarded in a reasonable manner after putting their bodies out on the line, bringing in a tremendous amount of money, it will help with the football athletes to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, and finally it will attract more talented athletes.…
First of all, children have the mindset that being rewarded is a good thing, which it is, but where is the discipline? These children are starting to expect things by doing nothing. The schools…
Schools should end later. From my personal experience, I usually end school and then have hours of extra curricular activities, because I am a dancer. This limits my time that I am able to spend on homework, and causes me to stress out. Also, it forces me to go to bed later and not get enough sleep for a growing teen. If school ended earlier I would be able to finish my homework earlier and get to go to bed earlier which would enable me to then get more sleep. Finally, I would get to spend more time with family. I am always rushing home from school, right to my homework and then off to dance, and then back home for homework. I never get to talk to my family and tell them about my day.…
So, in conclusion, parents should be able to help with homework. Parents can help kids without giving the answer away, and that is the most important thing. The kids answer the homework on their own, but the parents help so that they get it…
(Q6, 7) My mother earned an allowance for doing chores such as cleaning her bedroom, setting the table up for dinner and cleaning up when dinner was finished, as well as helping her father wash the family car and cutting the grass. Her allowance consisted of ten cents per grade level and she was paid weekly. After sixth grade she was no longer paid an allowance due to all the extracurricular activities she participated in during junior high and high school. She saved half of her allowance and spent the rest on wooden cap guns, wooden airplanes, and candy.…
In my view, Matt Bruenig is wrong, because not every American child needs an allowance. More specifically, I believe that if the government did do that, then they would be giving away money to children who may not even need that money. For all they know the parents of that child may not even use the money for their child. For example, a family could be paid $300 per month per child, but they could easily use that money to buy drugs or alcohol. Although Matt Bruenig might object that there are children that need the money, I maintain that while this is true, there are other ways to deal with this problem. For instance, the government could provide a family $300 per month per child, but only for necessities like food. Therefore, I conclude that American children should not be paid an allowance and that instead of giving money to children that do not need it, they could use that money for children that do need it.…
Minimum wage shouldn’t be lower for teens. If teens had a higher minimum wage it could help for different reasons.…
I believe that children should not be paid for good grades for several reasons. First of all, To get good grades depend on how each student learns and handles with the result he or she will receive at last. According to Sylvia Rimm, a child psychologist, money does not play an important role in achievement but consistency does. To illustrate, successful students always try to maintain their scores with unchangeable effort while others who once fail give up easily because they believe that there is no second chance to get rewards and compliment. Another reason is that paying for good grades does not mean paying for any knowledge at all. Like a case of Kasama and her 13-year-son, each grade in the report card has its price - laptop, cellphone, portable DVD player and even money. Thus, many children are so eager to have tutorials just to get 'A's and then what remain in their heads will be soon replaced with what they want and eventually receive as a prize. Finally, paying for good grades can ruin children's confidence. For instance, I had never pay for better better grades until high school when almost all of my friends paid for tutorials. I felt like I could not be good enough without taking extra courses in spite of the fact that I could succeed my self-studying. To sum up, with these reasons given above, a lot of money should not be spend on getting only good…
From a newspaper call-in column: [My opinion regarding the amount of homework a child receives is basically threefold]. **[I don’t believe the children should receive any homework whatsoever]**. One, (because) [the teacher has seven or eight hours during the course of the school day to instruct children and do work assignments with them, to review material for tests. [They do not need to be sending work home]. To me, [homework is an excuse for the teacher’s lack of ability to do their job properly]. Two, [there are too many children that come home with either no adult there] or [no adult with the ability to help them with their homework]. [That places too many children at a disadvantage compared to other children who have their parents there to help them with their homework]. Three, [an adult spends eight hours at work], [comes home], and [has…
Did you ever work a minimum wage job, and feel like you worked hours and hours but never had the money. Many people are constantly working their minimum wage job and they make very little money. While some believe the minimum wage should stay the same because it would be too much for business owners, others believe it should be raised because it could save taxpayers’ money and create more jobs.…
