Argumentative Essay: The Black Panthers
According to Fairclough, the Black Panthers were not wholly innocent. This is because they took their political doctrines so seriously and yet they were amateur revolutionaries. They also accumulated weapons and very often tried to instigate police officers in firefights. Before the black power movement, the Black Panthers were street gang members. Therefore, they found it hard to let go of their earlier criminal behavior: they took part in robbery, extortion, prostitution, drug trafficking and other illegal activities. They disciplined their members internally through beating and did not hesitate to kill undercover agents, informers or their opponents.     In Oakland, California, October 1966, persons Huey Newton and Bobby Seale established The Black Panther Party (BPP). Huey and Bobby met in the early sixties whilst at Meritt Junior College in West Oakland (Wood 1, Rajguru 2, The Black Panther Party for Self-Defense).
