Imagine that you are driving home from a liquor store, you look at the bottle you bought, and it says you're one of the 28. You take a drink of it and then immediately swerve and hit a car. It sound like the plot to a movie right? But sadly no, the reality is that every 51 minutes, a person dies due to drunk driving. That's about 28 people who die everyday because of this issue. And since drunk driving is a growing issue, that number is just going to go up. On their own, alchohol and cars have always been very dangerous. But now, the two are able to be combined into a deadly gamble. But what if there was a way to prevent those lives from being taken? This is the amount of consumption of alcohol a person takes in daily. Many people go to bars, heavily drink, and then drive home. People would be afraid to drive home because they knew that the endangerment it entitles to others, could result in the loss of their licence. The CDC also known as the centers for disease control and prevention wrote an article stating the average amount of alcohol consumption per day. The following quotes, from the 2016 article The Average Person, not only tells you how many alcoholic beverages a person drinks, but also the amount of alcohol they consume daily. “1 moderate alcohol consumption is defined as having up to 1 drink per day for women and up to 2 drinks per day for men”. Thats a lot of drinks per day, and this is all that happens in the safety of their home! What about the likelihood that they will drink more at a bar, and then drive home. The same article also says “A standard drink is equal to 14.0 grams (0.6 ounces) of pure alcohol”. When a person drinks that much not only is it hazardous when you're not driving, it also causes various problems to others. You're more likely to be less active at work, possible a public nuisance, and you might set a bad example for others around you. These things could be avoided with the threat of a license loss.
