Argumentative Essay: The Process Of Creating A Designer Baby

The process of creating a designer baby is quite challenging. There are multiple steps in creating a designer baby that the parents and doctors would have to overcome. The first step is creating the embryo with In-vitro fertilization. Meaning that they have to overcome a process by which the egg is fertilized by the sperm outside of the body, and placed into a petri dish. Then they would have to monitor and stimulate a woman's ovulatory process, and then would have to remove an egg from the woman's ovaries and let the sperm fertilize with the egg within the petri dish. Then they would have to remove a single cell from the embryo within the first 5 days after its creation. Then after that, they would have to test the cell, and finally yet importantly
after all of the work, the parents get to decide whether they want to discard the embryo or have the doctors implant it within the mother's womb. This process of designer babies is a real possibility of happening. The process has been tested for now, but in the near future, it will become more accessible for people to afford. By doing this the future of our children will be completely different. Rather than having something unique about yourself, people would look more of the same rather than unique. A person would use this procedure so that the child that they are giving birth too will not suffer from any hereditary disease.
There are multiple arguments that go either against the idea of designer babies some arguments that I personally think would be a great reason to have to go with the designers baby idea is that you would be able to make sure your child can be born without a hereditary disease.
The second argument to go with the idea of designer babies is that you would be able to make sure your child will not have to worry about shaky hands or sweaty hands. The arguments that go against the idea of designer babies would be that by creating the baby on how you want their appearance to be is going against human traditions. Then the second argument that I would supply for against the idea of designer babies is that people would want to determine whether the baby can be an enormous height, and to give them the abilities to be the next LeBron or the next Michael Jordan. The whole idea of designer babies defeats the uniqueness that every person is given and born
into.

This argument may be the most controversial argument out of the whole idea, and it is that it goes against most people's beliefs in how a child is given birth to. The whole idea of designer babies defeats the purpose that every child is born unique.
My recommendation to both Phil and Jessica regarding designer babies would be that I would not recommend then to alter the baby's gender.
In addition, I would not recommend spending all that money into developing the child's skill trait. A child can learn how to play a musical instrument so the parents could save 20,000 dollars over a trait that can be taught. In addition, the parents should not pay 14,000 dollars on whether or not their child would be an extrovert rather than an introvert. That is absurd it should not matter whether the child grows up to be an extrovert or an introvert that is what makes us unique as an individual. If I had a voice in the decision of whether or not Phil and Jessica go with the idea of creating their baby. I would recommend that they do not give into the idea of designer babies only if they intend on making sure their baby becomes a certain height, and whether or not the baby is born a girl or a
boy.
In conclusion, the idea of a designer baby sounds absurd. If you look at it and think critically about the new idea that was brewed up. You would soon come to realize that this idea is simply not good for our future. People will soon take advantage of an idea that had intentions of helping humans prevent disease from being passed around. People will sooner or later abuse the power of designing their own baby, and give the bay the most “desirable traits” for a “perfect human”.
