Efficient engines and catalytic converters:
Engineers are continually working on improving the efficiency of car engines. A more efficient engine means that a car will burn less fuel to travel the same distance reducing pollutants. This is good for car owners too because they do not need to buy so much fuel. Even a very efficient engine will still produce air pollutants. This is why scientists have developed ways of removing the worst pollutants from the exhaust. All new cars have catalytic converters fitted to their exhaust system. The first disadvantage is the price. Electric car batteries are not cheap, and the better the battery, the more you will need to pay. For example, the Chevy volt has a 40 mile range and sells for around $30,000. Comparing that the 230 to 300 mile range of cars made by Tesia motors, which sell for anywhere between $50,000 and $100,000. Even though it is quite ride, science can be as a disadvantage, People like to hear cars when they are coming up behind them or besides them, and you can’t hear if an electric car is near you. This has been known to lead to accidents. Most electric cars currently on the road do not have long ranges. Although in the future it will improve, most of the cars have a range of less than 25 miles, and you can 't truly see the great benefits until you ride in a vehicle with a longer range, but most cars take a long time to recharge their batteries. The example given before Tesla motors models can recharge in 45 minutes, but the most electric cars right now take hours to charge (approximately 7- 8 hours)[5]. You can 't drive the car while the batteries are charging usually, so your car will be out of commission whilst it is plugged in. if you were on the road going on a long trip, just in case you might like to carry an extra battery, but the battery ways so much, that the speed of the car would be weighed down
