The Renaissance in Western Europe marked the end of the middle Ages and the start of Europe’s rise as a global power. States in Western Europe became more centralized, and monarchs exercised more control over their subjects. Christopher Columbus’s voyage to America and triumphant return signaled the beginning of a new era of exploration. Likewise, Prince Henry the Navigator’s expeditions along the West African coast led to increased trade with Africa. Long isolated from the rest of the world, the Native Americans’ lives were drastically changed by the presence of European explorers, and later, colonists. Some aspects of life, such as domination by the elite in Europe, trade in Africa, and Native American ways of life in the Americas, have remained the same through the period. New contacts among Western Europe, Africa, and the Americas, however, led to interaction that has only increased with time.…
Look at those bones embedded in the tightly packed sediment. They may be human said Mark Wells. Dr. Samantha Clark took a close look, shaking her head, not believing a human had lived 100,000 years ago.…

You are what you eat is an old saying that was told from generation to generation for millions of years. I don’t think Caesar Barber has heard of it. Caesar Barber was a normal maintenance worker in New York City. After eating 4-5 meals a week at fast food restaurants such as Burger King, Wendy’s, Mcdonald's, Friendly’s, etc… he had a life-changing experience (due to a weight gain of 100 pounds bringing him to a total of 300 pounds). A heart attack. In result of his heart attack, he sued the fast food companies. I think he does not deserve the money because he knew it was addictive. He knew it was bad for you, but he just kept on eating it anyway.…
During the 20th century, after the Allies liberated Europe of which was occupied by the Nazi Regime, many civilians of certain categories were released from Nazi concentration camps, which were expected to have the fate of extermination. However, these released civilians, or captives, did not have to endure such action (whereas ~15 million others had to endure), and one of them included Simon Wiesenthal, a former “slave laborer”, for camps such as Janowska, Plaszow, and Mauthausen. Wiesenthal, moreover, is well known for his activity with Nazi “witch” hunting after WWII. He sought to locate missing Nazi war criminals due to their affiliations with concentration camps throughout Europe. Wiesenthal became associated with the United States Army, using their documentation to track down war criminals, hoping for righteousness in justice.…
On August 11, Logan Smith, a North Carolina man, was shaming and naming people on twitter. The people who he called out were in the Charlottesville white supremacy march. According to Smith, he believes that if racist people are no longer going to hide their identities, then they should be known to the public for who they are.…

Several factors contributed to the unsuccessful reform efforts in the nineteenth century. A few major roadblocks were violent methods that monopolies used to combat the unions such as The National Guard, and Pinkerton Guards. Despite seeming like a positive aspect , rags to riches stories by Horatio Alger significantly reduced change due to the fact that the poor still believed they too could be rich. The last major issue that blocked reform was the fact that unions were viewed as radicals and anarchists.…
“When in Rome, live as the Romans do; when elsewhere, live as they live elsewhere.” The Roman Empire failed to enforce its rule. The failure lost their strengths that allowed effective control. The Fall of Rome ended with a lack of strength the Empire gave and was taken by Hitler and the German Allies. They lost control and the Germans took over their land and war made Rome crumble to the ground. The allies adopted a strategy called the “Offensive Defense” while preparing. The winter line proved a major obstacle for the allies.…
When in the course of class history, it becomes necessary for the students to cut off ties with the school. We hold the truth to be self-evident that all students are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator by unalienable rights, that among them are the pursuit of good grades, fairness, and happiness. Students allow themselves to be ruled by the teachers in order to protect their rights. The office is created to protect these rights instead of taking them away from the students. When the rights are being taken away from the students, we have the right to break away and form a new government. The tyrant of Room 25 have broken the social contract by making unfair rules, stopping us from learning, and rushing the due date for homework. The tyrant of Room 25 is corrupt and too strict. His rules are evil and his actions cause many if not all to suffer. He is horrible at grading and is and bad at teaching. His ways of teaching are making us dumb and stupid instead of gaining knowledge. We, the…
In this current gen, it’s almost impossible to imagine that someone can live without computers. Computers have become an electronic device used almost daily and used from individuals of every age. When someone is looking up a question that can’t be answered by themselves or anyone else around, who do you ask? Answering he/she question or oneself can only get easier by just accessing a computer. Having access to the computer will bring you access to the internet which has all the questions and information one might ask for. “Computers are used in education for a variety of purposes. Students benefit from using them as tools and resources for gathering information” (Barrus). This shows how technology itself has been proven to be worthy of aiding society over time. Computers have been a huge beneficial factor towards society advancing in education, health, and communication. And what brings this technology to life is society. “Society” the first thought that comes to mind when heard or seen, is a group of people within a community. Society itself is what brings technology to excel such as the computer. Within a society you’re going to have citizens (people) who make up the society. That being said there will be people out there who’s interested in innovation; new ideas and new inventions. “Businesses have been transformed as well, and computers are found in corporations, factories, doctor's offices, hotels, restaurants, schools, colleges, universities, retail and commercial enterprises; literally every concern in every country uses computers” (Barrus) this shows how widely computers are used. To be more specific, computers have beneficially advanced education, health and communications. Computers allows learners to learn modern tools and knowledge that will make him or her ready for technological changes for the near future.…
As a child, my afternoons were filled with fun activities, whether that be classes in swimming, horseback riding, and gymnastics, or just sitting on the couch reading a book that was just released. Subjects such as college and AP classes were far from my mind. Sure I cared about doing well in school, but my concerns revolved more around the fun activities I planned outside of school.…

If Dylan had only knew what he would be getting himself into when he innocently auditioned for his freshman year musical. If Dylan had only known the shame, humiliation, embarrassment, and torture that was yet to come, he would have never enthusiastically auditioned in front of a panel of directors. If only he knew that he would become a statue when he faced the Musical Theatre bulletin board. It was his first audition. His first musical. His first year in the school. His first time performing. His first time on stage. It was the first time Dylan had ever seen his name listed next to the lead on his school’s Peter Pan cast list. He was frozen in his spot while he read the roster of results: Dylan Marci - Peter Pan. How could he, someone who seemed…
