Argumentative Essay: Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats

Are dogs better than cats? I think that dogs are way better than cats. I mean cats are cute and all but dogs are just so much better. Dogs can protect your home and you when cats cant. Dogs can also be trained easier than cats can. And lastly you can take dogs on rides or walks and do fun things with then but with cats you just sit at home and do nothing or go do things like go on walks or rides by yourself.

First, dogs can protect your home or you and cats cant. Dogs get their protectiveness form their wolf ancestors. Which means they know when a human is in need of care. Like if there was an intruder in your house in the middle of the night your dog wouldn’t just sit there and do nothing. They would either attack the intruder if you taught them to do that or they would start barking and wake you up. What if there was a fire in your house and you didn’t know? Your dog could bark and wake you up so that you could get out of your house in time. If you had a cat all they would do is escape themselves and you would burn to pieces. Same thing if there was an intruder in your house they would just get out themselves and leave you to die.
Second, dogs are way easier to train than cats are.
Cats take after their ancestors and their domestic behavior is close to that of cats in the wild. So cats are used to being vicious and mean so they are harder to train because they are so used to one way of living. Plus dogs are very motivated by food or attention while cats are not. Dogs are easier to be trained because they are motivated by affection or food so they will do many more things than cats will. But also if you pay attention all cats really do is sleep around and not play with your or do anything but dogs are more energized and you can do more things with
them.

Third, you can't take cats on walks or rides like you can dogs. Like I said in the last paragraph dogs are more energized and like to do more things than cats do. But also cats are so used to certain things and certain routines. So cats are so set in one routine that doing different things like going on a ride or walk is something they do not like doing. But dogs are practically up for anything like going on rides or walks or even going swimming or getting a bath. Oh fun fact cats hate baths or even water so that’s why they freak out when they see it or are near it.

Lastly, dogs are way more affectionate than cats towards humans. If you have ever had a dog you would know that they are very needy and love attention. But some people don’t like showing affection to their animals so I think that’s why they get cats as pets. Also dogs are very fond of their owners and have respect for them for giving them a home and feeding them when cats are not very fond of their owners and just don’t care about having a home or being fed because they are used to living in the wild and finding their own food.

In conclusion, that’s why dogs are better than cats in many ways. Including, that they protect you and your home, they are easier to train than cats, they can go on rides and walk with you, and they are very affectionate towards you. Now after reading my essay which one do you think is better dogs or cats? But now you know that cats are better than dogs.
