Argumentative Essay: Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats
Are dogs better than cats? I think that dogs are way better than cats. I mean cats are cute and all but dogs are just so much better. Dogs can protect your home and you when cats cant. Dogs can also be trained easier than cats can. And lastly you can take dogs on rides or walks and do fun things with then but with cats you just sit at home and do nothing or go do things like go on walks or rides by yourself.

First, dogs can protect your home or you and cats cant. Dogs get their protectiveness form their wolf ancestors. Which means they know when a human is in need of care. Like if there was an intruder in your house in the middle of the night your dog wouldn’t just sit there and do nothing. They would either attack the intruder if you taught them to do that or they would start barking and wake you up. What if there was a fire in your house and you didn’t know? Your dog could bark and wake you up so that you could get out of your house in time. If you had a cat all they would do is escape themselves and you would burn to pieces. Same thing if there was an intruder in your house they would just get out themselves and leave you to die.

Cats take after their ancestors and their domestic behavior is close to that of cats in the wild. So cats are used to being vicious and mean so they are harder to train because they are so used to one way of living. Plus dogs are very motivated by food or attention while cats are not. Dogs are easier to be trained because they are motivated by affection or food so they will do many more things than cats will. But also if you pay attention all cats really do is sleep around and not play with your or do anything but dogs are more energized and you can do more things with

There's a reason cats aren't called man's best friend – and it's all in their genes, according to a new study. Cats are simply not as domesticated as dogs despite sharing households with humans for at least 9,000 years, researchers at the Washington University School of Medicine have found. The reason is because they have been able to retain their hunting skills and ability to see well during the night-time. Cats were first domesticated in the Near East about 10,000 years ago. The modern domestic cat is descended from a wild ancestor called Felis silvestris lybica. All 600 million house cats in the world have been traced back to five females of this species. They lived in the forests before they moved into villages. Ancient Egyptians worshipped…

For the years that we have been living we all have come to realize that dogs are more trainable than cats. Canines have been trained to care for their owners, fetch news papers and some are trained as watch dogs for the blind. Others are close in social status to a Deputy – sometimes referred to as Deputy Dogs. This is pretty remarkable to think that we have dogs that are capable of recognizing and, attacking criminals, identifying drugs and placing criminals under arrest. In most cases we have dogs that are trained to be remarkable house dogs. Dogs have been trained over the years to perform entertaining tricks such as, roll over, fetch, shake hand and even play dead. There are many dogs which have developed bad habits. Special attention and training programs have been developed to assist dogs in shaking these bad habits. These bad habits include, biting, chewing on furniture and rugs, digging holes, barking consistently without apparent reason and most of all, house soiling. Cats on the other hand belong to the feline family and are not as trainable as dogs. There is just a significant limit to their training. Yes they are able to be home trained - to prevent house soiling, but to prevent them from damaging your furniture with their claws, you basically have to clip the claws. When cats are kept as pets, they become attached to their human…

Like dog owners, some cat owners have trained their pets to sit down, roll over and jump through hoops. Cats learn the tricks by observation and imitation, egged on with positive reinforcement. But training cats is harder than dogs. Does that mean they are less intelligent? Not necessarily. Cat experts say felines are just different. They are solitary animals, motivated by the need to survive. This has allowed them to adapt to a variety of domestic environments for at least 9,500 years - even the hoods of…

Service dogs help the disabled. Service dogs work with people that have disabilities such as Diabetes, MS, Cancer, Autism and Epilepsy.…

First of all, many people enjoy the companionship of cats. Many cats are really affectionate. They will snuggle up and beg to be petted or scratch under their chin; as a result the cat will instantly start purring. Who can resist a purring cat? If they are not feeling affectionate cats are generally quite playful. They love to chase balls and feathers, or just about anything that dangles from a string. They especially enjoy playing when their owners are involved with game. Not to mention, cats are so much more independent. They can disappear for hours, having their own little adventures, and then pop up again just when you least expect it. It's like running into a long-lost friend on the street, but in your house. Also, it has been said that cats cannot be trained. I have a personally found this false and found that using rewards and punishments just like with a dog; in fact, a cat also can be trained to avoid unwanted behavior or perform tricks. Cats can and will even play fetch!…
