Nevertheless, Anti-immigrant groups argue three points against immigration reform. The first point, is that unauthorized immigrants broke the law and should not be rewarded for criminal behavior. Although unauthorized entry to the country is a civil violation, anti-immigrant groups treat it as a criminal violation. The second argument opponents of immigration reform make, is that unauthorized immigrants are somehow hurting the workforce. Anti-immigrant groups claim that immigrants are taking the jobs of US natives. Moreover, the criminalization of unauthorized immigrants has blinded many concerned Americans. It is important, however, to bring awareness of the broken immigration system in the US. For that reason, my research will analyze arguments in favor and against immigrant reform. Lastly, my study will attempt to provide possible recommendations focused on a partisan compromise.
