In a matter of fact, they have to have a reason why they stopped you and need a warrant issued for searching you. The fourth amendment in the U.S. Constitution secures citizens that they will be secured in their homes, cars, against unreasonable searches which their rights should not be violated. People will argue that police are only doing their jobs and are trying to catch people that are doing illegal things, but really shouldn’t violate our rights, These inequity procedures that police officers use is causing a national crisis in which it has caused its public’s trust in them. This leads people of color and Hispanics fear for their safety, which is a serious problem according to how they are being approached. People of color are more likely to be targeted by police officers by their assumptions they have on them. It shows the difficult relationship between the police and blacks in the united states. For example “The color of my skin means to them that I am likely a criminal and in need of police supervision” (Harris). This explains that the cops will tell by the color of your skin quickly assume and stop to check you for any purpose of searching you.
