The negative impact that this type of research is doing is, is it really worth killing a could be abnormal baby to cure these conditions. There is no evidence out there that states that an embryo does not have life, so therefore we are destroying something that could possibly be alive(Green Garage point2).Some people say that the embryo is not alive because it lacks physical traits, yet some believe otherwise. The theory of “killing to make one better”, is what most Americans have come to. People of the public are paying the expenses for this research when most of them do not approve (ICR point 6). Three billion dollars is spent on stem cell research each year from the taxpayer's expenses. This process is not yet perfected, so the embryo can be exposed to significant risks. Adult Stem Cells can be taken from blood, fat or bone marrow and not affect the individual. The genetic makeup of the embryo helps repair and replace the mature tissue within the others body. Using one of the patient's own cells could make the process more effective but that is not how it always goes. Not all patients have to use their cells though. (Benefits and Controversy paragraph 3). Another benefit of this research is if it were to work for you, you would be able to live a more normal life. Treatment of these diseases could also give significant social benefits for individuals and economic gains for society. Within the society you have to think of how many people are actually getting hit with the thought of stem cell treatment. Also this research would be able to give us more insight of what the body does and how it
