Flow control is used to manage how much data and the speed at which the data is transferred, allowing source and destination hosts to negotiate correct timing for successful communication. Hosts on the network also have defined Response Timeout rules specifying how long to wait for responses and what action to take if a response timeout occurs.…

Michael Argyle developed the theory of the communication cycle, in this theory there a six stages which are to happen. The six stages are: the idea occurs, message coded, message sent, message received, message decoded and finally message understood. This theory does not apply when you are in a group conversation and is only used when you are in a one to one conversation which is between you and one other person. The idea occurs is the first stage of this cycle, this is where you think of an idea to speak to the person about a certain subject and have thought about a subject you want to talk to them about. The second stage of this cycle is message coded, this is when you have thought about your idea and you are now deciding on how you are going to say your idea to the person in a manner which is appropriate to the type of conversation you will be having with them. The message sent is the third stage of this cycle, this is where you have spoken/ said your message to the other person, you will have said your message in the way that you think is appropriate for the conversation you are having and matches what you are saying. The fourth stage of this cycle is the message received, this is where the other person has listened to what you have said to them and received your message towards them. The message decoded is the fifth stage of the cycle, this is where the person who has received your message is now decoding what you have said and will now be processing the way you said it towards them with the tone in your voice and will have been looking at your body language and expressions to see whether the message they have just received is bad or good. The sixth and final stage of the cycle is the message understood, this is where the person has now understood your message and has fully translated and processed the way you have said it and the way you wanted it to come across. The other person will now be having an idea occur that they want to communicate back to you,…

For example, my father called me today and he stated that my brother Paul did not put the DVD inside the case when he returned it. I asked him what happened, and then he told me that when he woke up he saw the DVD inside the DVD player but the case was gone. He was so upset thinking that my brother probably return the case without the DVD inside. When I called my brother he said that it was not the same DVD and tried to explain that to our father but he was not listening to him. My father yelled and interrupted him the whole time. Also, he said that my father started to talk about other issues and problems. It seemed that he misunderstood and got upset. My brother said he just hung up the phone and did not want to talk to my father. I called my father again and explained to him that he just misunderstands. He was upset and yelling. However, when I talked to him, I used words that he can understand. I was also calmed and careful.…

Imagine if a person was on Survivor. This person would never talk or listen to anyone, and would do their own thing. They would use their own knowledge and the person would not listen to the group. The competitor would just do what they pleased and not follow the established rules. The team would have lost the competition. This all happened because they did not communicate. The loss communication was a huge part of the breakdown in the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding. There are many reasons why a person may see this, but the three that have been chosen are as followed. The isolation and separation between the characters cause communication to be lost. A third person perspective does not reveal all the information present. The final one is the atmosphere in the novel implies that there is a loss of communication. When communication is lost between people, civilization will fall apart.…

There was the creation and explanation of two important communication pathways in this chapter. They partially explained the creation of the many communication pathways. They explained that every successful pathway is a spectrum rather than grid or a line. This allows for infinite movement and communication within the system.
