Because many of the greens are elevated you will find that a tight approach is necessary. Don't let that slow you down though. The greens are smooth and a little fast, but easy to putt. The course itself is challenging and there is almost always a bit of wind to heighten your difficulty.
Hole 3 is probably the most challenging on the course.
There is a large lake to the left so it is tempting to hug it to the green. You will want to use some strategy though and hit a hard shot. This par 4 hole is 406 yards long and doglegs a little left where the water is. There is a ravine that goes the length of the fairway forcing you to hit an iron when you start out. Even if you place your ball well, you will have a lengthy approach to the green. Choose your shot carefully or you will end up in the bunkers on the right or the desert on the left. This is definitely a hole that calls for precision.
The club was built on rolling hills in the high desert. You will be going uphill and downhill a lot. You will want to use a golf cart as walking is very demanding because of all the changes in elevation. Be prepared to take 41/2 to 5 hours for a round of golf because the course is spread out and there is a lot of room between the holes. That adds to the sensation, and you won't be feeling rushed.
Be aware that because it is located in the high desert, you will want to keep an eye out for the occasional rattlesnake that likes to warm itself in the cart path or
bunker.
Because the club was built for only the serious golfer, the amenities are limited to a pro shop and a small restaurant at the entrance to the club.
