Arming Teachers

The issue at hand here is “Is There Support for Arming Teachers in Schools?” This issue is argued by both Nirvi Shah, and The National School Safety and Security Services organization. Nirvi Shah believes yes there is support for arming teachers in schools, while The National School Safety and Security Services organization believes no there isn’t. Shah believes yes because there are already teachers who are armed in some districts. Shah’s argument is basically that the law passed in Utah has caused school shootings to end in Utah. Shah interviewed Mr. Dorn, the Georgia school safety consultant and Mr. Dorn stated “Sandy Hook didn’t look anything like Columbine. Columbine didn’t look like Pearl, Miss.,” Shah states that “Ms. Sorenson, a 13-year teaching veteran, is among those bolstered by the fact that there haven’t been school shootings in Utah since the law changed.”
The National School Safety and Security Services organization has President Kenneth Trump arguing against support for arming teachers in schools. Trump states “the vast majority of teachers want to be armed with textbooks and computers, not guns.” Trump believes that against allowing teachers and school staff to be armed because it would not only be a risk to the safety of the students and others on campus but it would also be an insult to highly trained police officers. Trump states “it is short-sighted for those supporting the idea to believe that educators who enter a profession to teach and serve a supportive, nurturing role with children could abruptly kick into the mindset to kill someone in a second`s
