Armstrong State University Personal Statement
Vivian Greene quotes, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” This is a quote that empowers me as an adult learner. In fact, it is the single most inspiring quote that helped me through my undergraduate studies. It reminds me that I can’t let the storms of life and my own insecurities cripple my dream of becoming an educator. By accepting to “dance in the rain”, I am embracing every obstacle along my educational journey, and I will succeed. In fall 2014, I accomplished the first stage of my dream by obtaining an undergraduate degree and now seek to complete the second stage by obtaining a master’s degree.

I have chosen Armstrong State University (ASU) as my institution of choice. Please let this letter inform you of my interest in applying for the Master of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning beginning summer 2017. Dr. Patricia Holt, from the Department of Secondary, Adult and Physical Education, has been very instrumental in helping me reach my

As for my volunteer activities, I loved helping nontraditional students at night with learning basic computer skills, tutoring migrant workers to speak and write English and help Habitat for Humanity families beautify their new homes. As far as recognitions and awards, I have been nominated and chosen for Employee of the Semester, Outstanding Administrative Personnel and have received many “Caught You Caring” recognitions for exhibiting outstanding excellence while on the

For the duration of my surgical follow through experience, I had the pleasure of following RF. RF is a 49 year old male with an admitting diagnosis of cervicalgia cervical herniation, and a scheduled surgery for an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at C4-C5 and C6-C7. According to Sharon Lewis in “Medical Surgical Nursing”, the cause of a cervicalgia cervical herniation is “the result of natural degeneration with age or repeated stress and trauma to the spine.” (Lewis, 2011) The follow through process was observed from when the patient arrived in the pre-op holding area until the patient arrived at the PACU. The expected outcome of the surgery for the patient is for the patient to be pain free within 6-12 weeks of the surgery. The radiating left arm pain should subside and the patient should be able to return to work. Immediately from the OR, the patient is expected to leave the room with immobilization of his neck as proper immobilization maintains the neck in a neutral position so there is no damage done to the spinal column during healing. The Shakespearean comedy, Much Ado about Nothing encompasses themes such as the importance of honour, the ideal of social grace, nevertheless uses a plot which primarily revolves around the theme of deception re occurring in various forms. On one hand deception is used throughout Much Ado About Nothing in a malicious manner, however on the on the hand it can be portrayed in a benevolent and beneficial manner such as the fooling of Beatrice and Benedick and deceiving them into proclaiming their love for each other. The use of both forms of deception often makes it difficult to distinguish between the two, such as when Claudio announces his desire to woo Hero, however Don Pedro takes it upon himself to woo her for Claudio. However Shakespeare’s use of deception is neither completely a means of malice nor a mean of showing traits of kindness between characters, the use of deception aids the development of the plot and creates a path for other elements necessary in the play such as its comical elements.…

During my first year as an FFA member, I got my Green Hand Degree, and received a Horticulture award for taking care of the greenhouse for my chapter. In addition to the flowers and small trees that were being grown, we were in the process of germinating bell peppers, peppers, jalapeños, onion, chives, pumpkin and strawberries. The culinary classes also grew spices in the green house and asked me to take care of them. I managed my extra-curricular activities, my 3.51 GPA and my class rank of 51. I have not taken the SAT/ACT yet. I am waiting closer to the end of the year to do so.…

To be honest, one would have to stretch in order to discover many similarities between my life, and the life of the American college administrator William Arthur Ward; a man who was born in 1921 and throughout his life became a champion for education and academia. However, William Arthur Ward has given me a very important gift; he has bestowed upon me a mantra which I have applied successfully throughout my experiences in the classroom, the Football and Lacrosse fields; as well as in my everyday life…

I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…

This adversity made it extremely difficult for me to decide if I wanted to continue my education and enter college. However, despite my finical struggle I decide to continue my education and apply for college. I applied to Rockland Community College, where I wanted to work on increasing my GPA.…

Abilene Christian University exceeds my expectations of a Christian University. I would like to go to a school that not only calls themselves "Christian" but actually acknowledges Jesus Christ as the rock of their school and education. Personally, God comes first in my life, a university that feels the same is absolutely magnificent! My beliefs are such that it is not about a religion but rather a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. I do not belong to a denomination, I belong to God only because the relationship that we have is much greater than any religious personnel could give me.…

Since my freshman year, I have been in the Lady Mountie Soccer team and since my sophomore year I have been in the Shades Valley Color Guard. While still being in those sports activities, I also take part in other organizations like the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society, and at same time taking AP classes. From being in all of these activities and classes, I have learned to be excellent at time scheduling with homework, soccer and color guard practices, and meetings. Although it may be challenging to keep track of time while taking more classes with UA Early College, I am still willing to proceed with the program because I know that there will be help from UA Early College peer coaches, and learning communities coordinator. Also I regularly finish all of my work that my AP classes gives me, and I dedicate myself to my other extracurricular activities. Therefore, I have no doubt that I would be successful as a UA Early College student because I know how to leave space for my studies, I am an eligible student, and I can commit to learning at a UA Early…

14 dead, 21 wounded in San Bernardino. 9 dead in Charleston, S.C. 12 killed, 3 injured in Washington, D.C. 27 killed, one injured at Sandy Hook Elementary. These are just a few examples of tragic mass shootings that have plagued the United States in recent years. But Why? Is it because the gun Laws in this country are too lax? And Guns are just too accessible? I say No, there is greater issue at hand than America’s gun laws thus, any amount gun control legislation will not stop the gun violence and we must vote against it. Too often gun control proposed as thee solution to stop all the tragic mass shootings. I disagree, infringing on the right of Americans to bear arms is not the answer, Keeping guns out of good law abiding people is not going to stop all the violence, I believe that just the opposite is true. Some may object saying, “America has more guns per capita and more gun violence than other nation, so if we decrease the number of arm citizens would also decrease the number of deaths caused by gun violence and make our country safer.” However this objections and others just like it are just not necessarily true.…
