To have an arranged marriage at a young age is considered the “norm” for many cultures since there is very little freedom for women to choose who they want to wed. In A Thousand Splendid Suns, Mariam is definitely hesitant about marrying Rasheed – shaking as she even struggles to say “yes” to Mullah when he asks her if she agrees to take Rasheed as her lawfully wedded husband. As she is rushed into an arranged marriage by her father, Mariam is unaware of what may come in the future. She signs her name on the contract under enormous pressure.…

Marriage is an important part of today’s world, and many people commit to marriage to show their love for another person. It is one of the fullest signs of love; it proves that someone wants to spend the rest of their life with someone they believe is their soulmate. In the book 1984, written by George Orwell, everything is different. This novel is a dystopia where a strong government has taken over and controls every aspect of people’s lives, including marriage. The love and joy we see between married couples is gone. The government has eliminated the ability to marry for love and show how people care about each other. Winston’s marriage is vastly different from marriage as we know it because marriage in Oceania is not based on love; instead, marriage is used for the sole purpose of bearing children and divorce is illegal.…

The ideal parent will always put their children’s needs and wants before their own. They will not argue or become violent in front of their children. Parents should not go crazy on their child or over step boundaries. Arranged marriages like in “Why My Mother Wanted Me Dead” will only create an unhappy, and possibly unhealthy rebellious child and future adult. The ideal partner for my daughter Lana should have more good traits, rather than bad. Personality, good morals, relationship between words and actions should collaborate. Lana’s future boyfriend should not just want sex from her. I expect that Lana’s future partner is all of what I mentioned, and that he is capable of talking things out with her instead of becoming violent. I do not want…

There are many types of informative speeches such as speeches about processes, about events, concepts, but they all use the effective method of analyzing and organizing informative speeches. When it comes to informing about an object it’s always better to focus on one aspect of your subject. If the object is a car then it’s better to narrow it down by only talking about the engine so that the audience can stay on topic and not be overwhelmed by the million other parts of the car you might want to talk about. It’s good to limit the speech to have between two-five main points, making sure to devote enough time and information to each main point. Choosing a topic and specific purpose, analyzing the audience, gathering materials, choosing supporting details, organizing the speech and using words to communicate meaning must be done to have a successful informative speech.…

The concept of art cannot be put inside a fixed boundary. Different things seem like art to different people, and art is no longer only limited to what DaVinci or Monet did in their time. At the present time, makeup and being able to do makeup is considered as an art. Probably that is why the people who do makeup are called makeup artists, because what they do is equivalent to art; just that the face of a person is their canvas.…
