Art Analysis: Hunting By Moonlight By Chameleon

Art is a way of expressing one's imagination, creativity and skill usually in a visual form such as a drawing, painting and or sculpture. Recently I was admiring a painting by Spencer Davey called “Hunting by Moonlight”. The highlight of this painting is a barn owl. The barn owl is painted flying in the center of the canvas. Its wings are spread from the top left corner of the canvas to the bottom right corner of the canvas. The underneath of the wings are very detailed so that you can see each individual feather. The color of the owl feathers is a dark whitish gray; this could be because the artist was trying to capture the shadow of the bird when in flight. When looking at the painting you can see very minimal of the top of the wings, but
The owl's body is not painted with feathers, but looks to be very smooth with hair or fuzz. The color of its hair is a dark whitish gray color and the sides of the owl’s neck is painted with a very gently, light yellowish-orange. Looking down a bit on the painting you can see the owl's legs and feet. This is an important part of the painting because the owls legs are not tucked in but they are extended downward as well as its feet. The legs are a whitish gray and the feet are a light yellowish orange. This is important to notice because this can illustrate that the bird is in the middle of hunting. Another very important key to this photo is the barn owls head. The shape of the owls head is very round, but towards the top,above the middle of the eyebrows would be, the head is concaved slightly. The color of the owl’s face is mostly white with a border of a yellowish orange around the edges. Its eyes look to be a very dark black and slightly beneath the eyes is the beak. The beak is colored yellow and hanging out of its beak is a dead rat which is limp and dark gray. The owl is holding the rat's face in his beak illustrating that it is in the middle of
