Art Timeline I chose to do nature paintings by famous artist. 1829- Sunset, Fighting Bucks This painting was created by William Turner. He got his inspiration from the Lake in Petworth. In this painting, you can see some of his brush strokes and lines like in the sky. But on the trees to the side and the bucks down in the field are somewhat detailed and they are not just a stroke of a brush. He tried to make sure that you were able to tell what it was that you were looking at. This piece of art is very interesting to look at because you have to look close to see what all is happening in this painting. 1843- The Lake of Zug This painting …show more content…
was created by William Turner. He created this piece of art while observing the people working alongside Lake Zug. This painting is different because they lake and the nature around it looks almost blurred and hazy. You can see some of his brush strokes but then as he focuses in on the people working along the lake, he becomes more detailed and you cannot see his brush strokes. It is a very different technique and is very interesting to study. He blends his colors so beautifully and makes this painting one that you could stare at for quite some time. 1845- Catskill Creek, New York This painting was created by Thomas Cole. He got the inspiration for his art from Catskill Creek in New York. This painting is almost like a photograph but is really a painting. You cannot see the brush strokes in it but he does an amazing job of showing detail in the leaves of the trees no matter how small and he does an amazing job of showing the reflection of the mountains and the trees in the water. The clouds in the sky are painted so well because they show the suns reflection on the clouds and how beautiful it looks. He truly did capture it very well. 1848- Meeting of the Brig Mercury with the Russian Squadron This painting was painted by Ivan Aivazovsky. This artist painted a beautiful painting of a ship at sea with a beautiful sky of clouds. The artist used his brush strokes so well that you cannot see any lines from the brush. The painting looks so real, almost like a picture taken but it was painted and not captured by a camera, but it should have been. 1871- Bridal Veil Falls, Yosemite This painting was created by Albert Bierstadt.
This beautiful piece of art was inspired by Yosemite National Park. The nature and wildlife is a beautiful picture to be painted. You cannot see his brush strokes or lines in this painting but you can see how he integrated the colors so well to bring this picture to life to make it look almost real. It too looks like a photograph taken when it is really a painting. 1877- Corner of the Garden at Montgeron This piece of art was created by Claude Monet. He is known as the classic impressionist. In this painting, he captures the ever-changing nature of light and color. Unlike a lot of paintings, you can see the brush strokes in this painting. But I believe that the brush strokes used help create the piece of art and they help show the leaves and flowers on the trees. Also, it helps make the clouds in the sky look more hazy and beautiful. Early 1900’s- From the Lake This painting was created by Georgia O’Keeffe. She spent her days at Lake George in New York and there is where she got her inspiration for her painting. This painting is an unusual painting because it is not a painting where you can see exactly what things are. You can make out the blue as water and the grey colors as clouds. She does well to not show her brush strokes in the painting. Everything is painted to where it looks real even though it is hard to make out what it is that you are looking
at. 1914- After Sunset by the Lake This painting was created by August Macke. I can see that you can see his brush strokes and it looks like he used water colors. This looks to me like the colors blended together but in a way to where it is easy to make out what the piece is about. You can see his lines but they are hard to make out in certain places. His brush strokes also make the leaves on the trees look more real and the plants by the tree looks like they are just dying from dryness but this painting is beautiful and is fun to look and see what everything is. 1931- The Persistence of Memory This painting was created by Salvador Dali. This is a unique painting because not only does it show a beautiful piece of nature but it also has melted pocket watches. This piece is very creative and beautifully created because like the other paintings mentioned, he does not show his brush strokes. He blends the colors together so well that it as well looks like a photograph taken when it is really a painting. You can see the reflection of the cliff in the water and the watches are melted so well they look like they are just made of a flap of rubber.
