Organizations today struggle with staff challenge like labor shortages, increase of knowledge with related, diversity at the workforce, etc., then is important to solves these challenges and focus on demonstrating the good impact, service and welcome to the clientele, plus the good performance of the staff.
Amtrak: Improved Management and Controls over Food and Beverage Service Needed
As Amtrak was created to travel around the country, then the company is responsible to receive, stock, warehousing food, beverages and others items for the on board Cafes and dinning services.
The supplier, Gate Gourmet, is in charge to operate, order, receive, store and stock the train with food, beverages and related items like napkins, linens, silverware, etc.
Today Amtrak is looking for better financial performance, review their cost, management control, lower price food products with similar quality, prudent management techniques to control food, beverage, cost and gains (profits).
It was found mismanagement like the contractor never requires an annual report, an accurate and complete payment on rebates and discount received, monitor purchases, expenses and profits.
These lack of information do not let Amtrak to determine the cost of food, expenses, and inventory, for a better performance. Other transportation companies accountabilities structures for their food and beverages services, other has subsidy from the government, others control the cost, operations and service with details report that show even the performance, profit and services to have as a result good revenue.
When all is organize, the manager overcomes the challenges maintaining Amtrak operational efficiency.
