Asb Reflection
Waiting eagerly in our school garden, I was about to meet the five fourth graders that I was going to be grouped with for the rest of the year. I was a bit casual about the “meet and greet” because I could not determine how well I would fair with these little children. I could not predict whether these kids will enjoy my company or loathe it. After a lengthy thirty minute wait, the kids began to slowly flood onto the field. I was introduced to each student one by one and the first thought that ran through my mind was “How am I going to connect with someone who’s so different?” They were so reserved and quiet and I found it troubling having to find something to stimulate these them. My mind quickly jumped to all the basic questions to try to …show more content…
Every year, we are assigned children from the fourth grade and our jobs as ASB leaders was to befriend them and to serve as someone who could help these newcomers adjust to the new environment they found themselves in.This being my first year in ASB, I initially brushed the event of as another simple duty we needed to deal with. In spite of this mentality, this event proved to be much more relevant than I had first predicted. Over the course of the next few months, our little group of friends would mold me into a person who I could never have imagined myself to be. When one of the kids had a problem they needed to deal with, I would lend my attention to them and help them cope with the situation they were faced with. When one of them needed someone to keep them company, they would come to me to help them rid of their boredom. These interactions aided in the development of my leadership skills and furthermore, it gave me insight on the type of person I want to be in the years to come. I soon began to construct myself as someone who could be a mentor or life coach. Alongside pursuing my dream of becoming a medical professional, I also want to become a person of guidance. I want to seen as someone who can lead the way for others, whatever the problem may

During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…

Children beginning school for the first time will need to build their confidence in trusting adults they are unfamiliar with. We can help with this process by projecting a happy, warm approachable personality. Taking time for a child to speak and responding with an appropriate reply and perhaps another questions will begin a conversation and build trust. We need to praise regularly in order to continue helping them become secure and projecting positive emotions.…

1.3. My own effectiveness in building relationships with children or young people is that when you get to know each child individually i feel more comfortable, because i know they feel comfortable due to them knowing me and respecting them. I involve all the children in my activities no matter what the age gap unless the activitiy is un suiteable for that age group. I ensure in myself that i treat each child in the same way, as no child has higher priority than the other they all get treated fairly. I…

To build relationships with children and young people I need to adapt my behaviour and communication to be in line with their age and understanding. I need to show them that I am fair trustworthy caring. Also being positive and happy, being aware of my body language and facial expressions when talking to children, has a massive impact on the relationships I build with pupils. Showing them that their views and ideas are just as valuable as mine or yours, and they are a valued member of the school community, all of the above is established over a short period of time after establishing ground rules and mutual respect.…

A.S.B. was an amazing class for me last year and I hope to be in it again. I would represent my Junior class in a positive way. It would be fun helping get kids involved in school activities. I would love to help with the school dances and assemblies because I am very creative. I think students should feel like school is there home away from home. Getting them involved and picking them for activities would give them a much better outlook and a good attitude towards school. I love getting decked out for spirit days so I would encourage other people to dress up with me! Leading in an enthusiastic way I will do the tasks at hand and get the work done, while being an example to others. I have a natural ability to improvise and adapt to every situation. I’ve had much experience like working a summer job at my Dads chemical company. In the office I helped work the phones for customer service. I also helped organize the company’s promotional events. To accomplish goals you must always respect others, work hard and get the job done; that’s what I think A.S.B. is all about. I’m up for anything, and available for whatever I’m needed to do. My family completely supports me as a leader and encourages any and all involvement that I am called to do. I am very energetic and enthusiastic about things and have many ideas. Also I’m very artistic and love to draw. I think one of my strengths is my creative mind. Being kind of a perfectionist is probably one of my strengths and one of my weaknesses. Sometimes I want to take my time to make everything right. Some things I could bring to A.S.B. are a fresh outlook, hard work and mainly new ideas. Maybe we could do some kind of marathon that went on the whole night till the morning; I think kids would have so much fun and we could still raise money. Otherwise I think A.S.B. is a great program and that’s why I’m running and would love to be in it again. I loved it last year and am hoping to…

Responsibility and care are aspects that influence my life that I could echo into the chapter of NHS. The most important lesson I have learned in my life is that responsibility is one of the major aspects to success. Being a older sister to three younger girls carries a lot of responsibility. Being a role model to not only them but other girls in my culture is one of my priorities. Being known as a role model means the most to me because it not only shows that you try your best at everything, but it shows that being your best influences other people to do the same. I always try to be helpful to others in my community. Recently, I have taken up tutoring younger children because I love to see students learning better from my help. Outside of school, I teach you younger children the pillars and principles of the Quran. When i'm not doing those things, I work, and babysit. I join a lot of school-based programs, clubs, and activities; so that I can familiarize myself with the school environment more and meet new people. Being a part of all these programs for school has really shown me that I can improve myself. After high school started it was a huge change for me. I really tried my best to keep my grades high and attitude good. Joining NHS will be another way for me to push myself to do better. It will give me a chance to reach my goals and hopefully achieve them. I believe that being a part of NHS will make a huge difference for me and the students ofI will bring all of these qualities of responsibility and care to the program. To me education is priority, education is worthy. Education is the key to success.…

I have learned so much through the opportunity I have been given to work with the preteens. I have become a lot less shy and less socially awkward, even though i would still say that I am a little bit, and I have learned that even though I am introverted I can still work with other people that are not introverts and that I can be loud if I need to be. One of the biggest things that I have learned through this experience is that quiet and leader is not a…

As a straight A student all my life I have to work extra hard each and every day to be able to accomplish even my simplest goals because I know I should always push myself to become better at beating the game, that is life. But while all this is true, I know that no matter how hard I work I cannot possibly achieve all my goals and dream no matter what actions I take, at least not alone. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” This powerful words are extremely meaningful, especially to me. This means that if you try your hardest regularly to not only gain new knowledge, become more productive, make new goals and wonder about your future, and become a better you, no matter what circumstances you are under you are a person who will help others even unintentionally. Personally, I know it can sometimes be hard to get through the day while being alert and ready to work, but when I see someone who is dedicated to not only exceeding themselves but to make others succeed too, it makes me want to do the same. I always go out of my way to help others because that is what a real leader would do. Joining the Beta Club where each member is a leader will allow me to…
