Ash Lawn-Newland Bed Room Description Essay

The interior of Ash Lawn-Highland presents a conglomeration of Colonial, French, and Victorian styles throughout the structure. The entrance hall of the structure consists of carpet flooring. The hall’s plaster walls are painted white, which includes five symmetrical white painted wooden doorways. The ceiling of the hallway presents an archway that supports the central chimney that then continues into an elevated smooth plastered ceiling. A doorframe separates the hall into two parts; there are two rooms on the east side of the doorframe and two additional rooms on the west side. The doorframe dividing the hall features decorative fascia moldings.
Ash Lawn-Highland’s first bedroom, on the right side of the structure, belonged to Monroe’s oldest
daughter, there is a blue, yellow, red, orange, and green striped rug on its floor. The walls consist of French wallpaper that depicts lines of green leaves with berries. A green and pink border lines the edges of the wallpaper. Joining the wall to the ceiling is a white wooden fascia molding. White smooth plaster assembles the room’s ceiling that contains a smoke detector and sensor above the room’s doorway. The wooden doorframe has white fascia moldings. Within the room is a fireplace with a stone hearth, which connects to a golden metal grate. The painted black metal cheek of the fireplace flanks a brick firebox opening with an electric light wired at its base. A tan carpet covers the floor and runs the length of the room, which has black plastic moldings that connect the floor to the wall. The walls in the office are painted green with a decorative tan border that runs along the bottom edges and doorframes of the walls. In the room, a piece of the wall has been removed to provide an example of the building’s layout that shows a brick interior that is covered by wood and plaster covering. The brick indicates the room’s addition onto the structure. This removed section also provides fire marshals with information on the structure’s interior layout when conducting annual fire code inspections. White wooden frames surround the doors, which are comprised of fascia moldings. One doorway connects to the entrance hall while the other leads into the dining room. Two white wooden framed windows in the office feature fascia molding. The smooth white plaster ceiling runs the length of the room and contains a smoke detector above the doorway leading into the hallway.
