I do believe that the proposal should be accepted. The reason being the Clark project has a positive NPV. The net present value method offsets the present value of an investment's cash inflows against the present value of the cash outflows. If the present value of cash inflows exceeds the present value of cash outflows, then it clears the minimum cost of capital and is deemed to be a suitable undertaking. On the other hand, if the present value of cash inflows is less than the present value of cash outflows, the investment opportunity should be rejected.…

Neoclassicism was an art movement closely associated with the era beginning from the end of the 17th century through the 18th-century. The Neoclassicism art movement came from a combination of the last half of Baroque art to the burgeoning scientific interest in classical Greek and Roman antiquity (Sayre, 2010). This new found art of Neoclassicism led to the cause in a rapid growth of collections of antiques (Sayre, 2010). In addition, during the Neoclassicism art movement artist stumbled across an unforeseen problem, in which neoclassical artists were unsure as to whether an image of a hero or famous person in artwork should be portrayed as in the traditional Classical or Contemporary costume. Furthermore, neoclassical artists were not known to have incorporated gestures and emotions in images within their artworks (Sayre, 2010). For example, this is visible in a piece of artwork from the Neoclassicism movement known as The Emperor Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries.…

    Chinese Artifacts

The artist of this calligraphy scroll, Zhao Mengfu, was highly praised by the Yuan emperor Renzong as unrivaled traditional Chinese polymath (for a lack of a better word). It is said that the emperor admired him for possessing the following seven outstanding qualities: wide learning, Song royal ancestry, elegant and charismatic appearance, pure character and righteous conduct, literary accomplishment, mastery of calligraphy and painting skills, and profound knowledge of Buddhist and Daoist teachings. As an leading and influential calligraphy during his era, Zhao was able to successfully advocate and promote many of the views that he had on Chinese calligraphy. Zhao supported a return to the ancient models, which integrated the Jin (265 – 420AD) and Tang (618 – 906AD) dynasty styles to synthesize a new norm for standard and cursive scripts. In later eras, many printed texts were modeled after the standard script that he helped create. Furthermore, the cursive style script, depicted in this scroll titled Four Anecdotes from the Life of Wang Xizhi, became the foundations of the informal calligraphic styles of those how succeeded him.…

At first glance, this essay might be guessed to just be an informational essay about the art of a few Asian American artists but it delves much deeper than that. Further research has led me to the discovery that it took some guts for these artists to step out of the comfort zone and confront the stereotypes pressed upon them by society that prevents them to be what they want to be. It has led me to an understanding that this issue poses more of a problem than previously thought. Why can’t Asian Americans see themselves as artists, rather than follow the unfortunate American stereotype that Asian-Americans have to all be doctors or lawyers or banker, scientist, or businessman? Art is significant, it allows individuals to express themselves; bringing the inner reality into the outer world of physical reality; Integrating the mind, body, and soul. But Asian Americans feel threatened, fearsome of being ciritizied, stereotypes so sometimes they constrict their innovative personalities into a tight bottle.…

    Oil Paintings

One of the images that I’m most fond of is the “Madonna and Child with the Chancellor Rolin” by Jan and Eck. This piece is one my favorites because it uses oil. When using oil the images of the paintings seem to realistically speak to me. This particular painting enables both fusion of tones and crisp effects and is unsurpassed for textural variation. The standard consistency of oil paint is a smooth, buttery paste. In this scene it depicts the Virgin crowned by a hovering Angel while she presents the Infant Jesus to Rolin. This painting has a wide range of well detailed palaces, churches, an island, a towered bridge, hills and fields is portrayed, subject to a uniform light. Perhaps some of the Chancellor's very many landholdings around Autun are included in the vista. The small garden with many flowers identifiable including lilies, irises, peonies and roses, visible just outside the columns, symbolizes Mary's virtues and life. There appears to be a series of illustrations of the seven deadly sins distributed among the details of the painting. I think the artist chose to paint this piece to portray a picture of time. The painting might be connected with the appointment in 1436 of Rolin's son Jean as Bishop of Autun. I choose this painting because it spoke to me in a spiritual form of art where as I could relate and visualize the moment as it happened.…
