Adversity & Solution in life
If a rabbit is always in secure cart, it will never know how to overcome its adversity when it is outside. Comparing to all obstacles in reality human beings have to face, the issue is more diverse and harder to get through. However, when people see it like perspective personal challenges, overcoming is only and easy. Racial discrimination issue is an obstacle that happens not only in the past but also today, and people, victims of this issue, might find an effective way to go on living. As Akeelah’s story, a black girl in economically poor community in South LA, “studying like genius” seems to be used for white people. Therefore, she comes up with confidence and ability of good spelling words is not only a big concern in black community but also the change of overall people’s perspective. In fact, she has a hard time to demonstrate that what she gets to fight against the racial discrimination. Otherwise, she bets on her practices that she is possibly a winner, and she gets succeed in the end of the Spelling Bee. Similarly, Jackson, a boy in “Waiting in Line at the Drugstore”, is afraid of the drugstore because discrimination out there makes him in uncomfortable mood. The poem is about a person, whatever obstacles is, can overcome it. He wants to determine it thoroughly. His passion of it makes waiting in life no longer boring. Before that, he didn’t want to stand the racism in the store, he would prefer the ghetto even “…. It’s not clean and sanity ….”, he said. Afterward, he feels time becomes shorter and shorter because of reading book. The passion helps him overcome the waste of time. In reality, some people can overcome depression if they find something fulfill the bad empty hole in their mood. For example, a Mexican kitchen helper in the restaurant I work, doesn’t speak either my native language or fluent English. She is not familiar with communicating between restaurant members. However, she has her own way to find a joy in working. Often spending more hour working in restaurant is to make ends meet and also afford her daughter’s tuition. She is happy with that, and it is both her passion and motivation to keep going. From those real evidences, depression is just a challenge to originate new goals or purposes, accordingly with passion and
