Assignment 1: Music Industry Analysis

I have used many music streaming services over the years as it provided me with the ease of not having to download music and fill up my storage devices. As long as I had an internet connection I could just listen to any music I wanted anywhere. My first music streaming service was Sound cloud and my current is Spotify. They are similar in that they are both music streaming services that also offer podcast streaming service, they both offer a free package which allows users to listen to listen to music without having to pay for the premium packages. The cost of their premium packages is also very similar starting at $4.99 for Sound Cloud Go and Spotify for students. Their other packages include Sound Cloud Go+ with more features than the Go that costs $9.99. Spotify offers a premium package for non-student members for $9.99 and $14.99 for a family package. Just recently, Spotify included a Hulu premium subscription for free for the students’ package ($4.99). This enabled me to watch videos and TV shows that I never could afford if I paid for the Hulu package separately as I am on a tight budget. In contrast to Sound Cloud’s “cheaper” package ($4.99) which does not include all the premium features and does not include any additional services with it. So, in my opinion, the Spotify premium package is worth the money. Spotify has better music discovery features. Spotify provides the user with music recommendation based on the artists and genres he/she has been listening to. This feature has helped me discover music that I enjoy from the various artists. In contrast, Sound Cloud does offer but is not as efficient as the one offered by Spotify, despite the number of songs I have listened to on Sound Cloud I have not received even one recommendation for a new artist or
