A GUIDE TO REFLECTIVE PRACTICE
WHAT IS REFLECTIVE PRACTICE? Reflective practice is looking back on the work you have completed. Looking at how you work, is it effective? Your thoughts and feelings on how you work. What can you learn from your experiences, what can you Improve in the way you work.
WHY IS REFLECTIVE PRACTICE IMPORTANT? It is important that you can learn from past experiences and any mistakes you might have made so as not to repeat them.
HOW REFLECTIVE PRACTICE CONTRIBUTES TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF SERVICE
PROVISION. It will make you more aware of how you work with different client groups, where your strengths and weaknesses are and which areas you need to gain more training in. This in turn will improve the quality of care you can deliver to individuals and will give you more awareness of your actions in the future.
HOW STANDARDS CAN BE USED TO HELP A SOCIAL CARE WORKER REFLECT ON THEIR PRACTICE. Regular reading of the company’s Policies and Codes of Practice will ensure that you are meeting and maintaining the standards set out in them. Familiarisation of legislations will also enable you to reflect on your working practice to make sure you are and have been working within the law.
