Part I Cause and Effect: What are the CAUSES of you becoming an online student (the effect?)
I have to admit that becoming an online student was not as hard of a decision that I originally thought it was going to be. I have wanted to go back to school for several years, but having a now 13 year old and 1 year old daughter, a 4 year old son, a husband that sometimes acts like a kid, two pets and a large house in the country isn’t something that tends to lead to some free time for things like school. My husband works construction and there were 6 months this past year in which he was laid off. During that time I picked up two part time jobs so that I may contribute to the family monetarily. It really struck me how hard it was to get a decent paying job without a degree. I made a promise to myself that within the next 5 years I may have to work part time jobs during the winter, but I would work toward my degree as well so that way I can get a good job so if my husband gets laid off we aren’t struggling as much as we were this past …show more content…
Part V: Create a short argument about something you feel passionate about. I am a firm believer that our country should switch to a universal healthcare system. The number of uninsured people in our nation has grown to over 45 million people and my husband is currently one of them. My children and I are covered under a program run by the state of Indiana that allows us to get a steep discount on Anthem insurance, but unfortunately, my husband will not qualify for this program for another 4 months. During this time if anything were to happen to him, he would not be covered and with health care costs skyrocketing, even the shortest trip to the emergency room could put us into severe debt. It is my belief that one could even argue that universal healthcare would fall under our right to pursue life under the constitution. If someone has cancer and does not have insurance how are they going to be able to pursue life if they cannot afford the life saving treatments that they would
