I have selected the persuasive writing genre to investigate the question "Should regulations regarding payment to college athletes be changed?" for two reasons. The first reason is that this issue is very complex, and this paper is geared to focus in on answering a set narrow, objective questions to get to heart of the issue so the average person can have a factual view of this issue. The persuasive writing genre helps me address the following questions when engaged in the research of this subject: What do I plan to accomplish, why you want to research this particular topic, and how I'm going to do it. The second reason is that this genre is intended to convince my instructor, audience, and others that this is worthwhile research topic and that I have the competence and the work-plan to complete it.…

It is estimated that over 3.3 million U.S. women, or 2.7 percent, who are 18 years of age or older have pelvic pain and other symptoms, such as urinary urgency or frequency, that are associated with IC/PBS. An estimated 1.6 million men, or 1.3 percent, who are 30 to 79 years old have persistent symptoms, such as pain with bladder filling or pain relieved by bladder emptying, that are associated with PBS (“NIDDK”). My preliminary research shows that the government is giving more money for research, doctors are learning more, and patients are taking their health care into their own hands concerning this very confusing and painful disease. My thesis supports will focus on how IC/PBS is diagnosed, where the pain is coming from and the many treatments options that are available once you’ve been diagnosed with IC/PBS and how it is possible to get some relief from the pain.…

The research process involves steps that must be taken in order to get an accurate collection of factual information. As defined at (dictionary.com, 2011), “research is diligent and systematic inquiry or investigation into a subject in order to discover or revise facts, theories, application, etc.” The first step in the research process is the problem formulation in which the overlook of what is being investigated or studied. For example, if a large prison was conducting a study that involved male inmates with a high risk factor of returning to prison for the same crime like armed robbery and car theft. The first step is the most important because it gives the researcher purpose for the study as well as a guide to what is needed. The next step is the design of research to be done.…
