I have worked in the NHS for over 10 years, I started as an apprentice in business and administration at Airedale hospital straight after leaving school. I made this decision because I was not 100% in what direction in life I wanted to go. The apprenticeship was a good starting point for me as it gave me experience of working in different departments within the NHS and so when the time came to me to choose a field I would like to work in, I did knowing I had made an informed decision and not going into a job blind. Successfully gain this role and this was my opportunity flourish within the health care side of my role, I gained so many new skills and learnt a lot about myself as a person. I learnt how to take blood, blood pressure, height, weight and pulse of patient. Other parts of my role as health care assistant was chaperoning patients during implant removals and coil fittings. This is where my caring side really come out as I calmly supported them through the procedure. Working alongside the Nurses within clinic helped me gain so much knowledge and understanding of contraception and sexual health and made me believe that I can do more to help and support
