Natural death is unexpected and can leave those beloved by the expired in grief, unlike euthanasia where a heads up can be given. In the case of Emperor Augustus families can be alongside the participant, “Emperor Augustus, dying quickly and without suffering in the arms of his wife, Livia, experienced the euthanasia he had wished for." –Francis Bacon (Source 3) Euthanasia can allow a chance to correct the past and leave the world with no regrets, furthering the peacefulness of their passing.
It is humane to put a sick animal to sleep rather than to let it suffer and die a slow painful death, yet it is not the same case when it comes to a human life. The process of death can be long and painful when old age is mixed with a terminal illness. Euthanasia can help take away the pain quietly and peacefully instantaneously. Euthanasia is much more humane than forcing a person to sit and watch as their body loses all ability to function.
Euthanasia should be legalized in the United States for those who can meet government requirements. It is more humane to euthanize someone, than to not give them a choice and let them die a terrible and miserable death. Also it gives time for families to conjugate and wish them goodbye together. Euthanasia is also far less expensive than multiple treatments that have the potential to leave a family in debt.

Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable disease which is cutting a person’s life too short. The concept of physician assisted suicide always provokes a moral predicament for many people all over the world, mostly because it gives someone the freedom to choose whether to live or die. Euthanasia has been debated for many years, on one hand people believe euthanasia is a negative action because suicide is not a way out, but on the other hand people also believe assisted suicide is the only option for a patient who suffers from great pain that will only get worse. Euthanasia or physician assisted suicide should be legalized and people shouldn’t worry about whether or not if they feel it’s immoral or not.…

Euthanasia saves people from pain and suffering while dying. Richard Nicholas in his article “a quick and painless death” (euthanasia), reveal different real stories of patients who were given dozens of painkillers and muscle relaxants that eventually cause death of a person. Nicholas in his article clearly state that desire of death for a patient who is suffering from an incurable disease for a long time, is normal. Before the act of euthanasia, doctors apply resuscitative effort even when they know that patient is…

In at least some cases, active euthanasia promotes the best interest of everyone concerned and violates no one’s rights, therefore, at least in some cases, active euthanasia is morally permissible.” (RSL/Rachels, EL 249) This is the strongest argument for active euthanasia in my opinion. Those who oppose this argument may claim that euthanasia is not in the best interests of all parties involved. The parties referenced are usually the friends/family/doctors and their grief over the situation or even the hospital and its shareholders losing money from the patient. First off, any person who wants to keep a family member alive who is in extreme pain for the sole reason of wanting to prolong being able to interact with them or to offset their own period of suffering following the family member’s death is incredibly selfish. The logical conclusion would be that family and friends of the patient would be relieved by their quick and early passing because of the avoidance of a month of suffering. Yes, of course the family and friends of the patient will experience emotional trauma from the passing of their loved one, but in due time the loved one you will pass whether they like it or not. Second, when it comes to financial losses to the hospital and its shareholders, those who would put monetary gain over the wellbeing of another human being have…

Whether financially or emotionally, prolonged dying can prove incredibly detrimental to all of those involved. In a study conducted in 2000, 89% of patients said not being a burden to family was a very important consideration (Chantagul, Ho, 254). Typically very costly, medical treatment can financially cripple a family. A patient might rationalize euthanization but saying his death serves a greater good for his loved ones. A patient nearing death might also think it is better for him to die than have his family be so emotionally taxed by procedures prolonging the dying process. Euthanasia can offer a relief to a patient worried about causing his loved ones to suffer, giving the patient more peace in death.…

Imagine that a family member has been diagnosed with Cancer. Even though they have been told it is terminal, they are currently not feeling ill or any pain. The family member starts having feelings of depression and discusses physician assisted suicide. This is a scary thought because no one wants to think that they may lose someone close to them. There are many alternatives to physician assisted suicide. The first is hospice care, end of life care that treats not only the patient, but the family, as well. Second is palliative…

Euthanasia should be legalized to allow terminally ill patients the opportunity to prepare for their deaths, avoid unnecessary pain and die with dignity. Euthanasia is “the act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.” (Am. Heritage) The literal meaning of the word euthanasia, "‘an easy or happy death,’ from the Greek word eu- ‘good’, and thanatos ‘death’"(Harper), is proof in itself that the whole idea is to help people and not to belittle the value of life. The fact that suffering animals can be put out of their misery, but suffering people are forced to stay alive and endure the pain, is inhumane. Legalizing euthanasia would be no more than an act of mercy allowing medical personnel to bring slow, painful deaths to a halt.…

Terminal illnesses cause great pain and suffering. For example here are some words from Andy Whelan, “...we as parents could offer no comfort - Jessica pushing us away as she rode out her searing pain in solitude...her body stiffened and her face contorted in pain.” (Zhang). Mrs. Whelan’s daughter Jessica Whelan was only four years old when she was diagnosed. Jessica had a form of cancer called neuroblastoma and had been fighting cancer for 13 months. In November she was given just a few weeks to live and later died due to cancer. Patients should be allowed to have doctor-assisted suicides because they should have the right to die and end their suffering, but some people are against the legalization because they believe they will make the…

After being diagnosed with debilitating diseases, such as one of the multiple forms of cancer or being in a Persistent Vegetative State, (PVS), many consider euthanasia to end the suffering of that individual. Euthanasia is defined as "the act of painlessly ending the lives of individuals who are suffering from an incurable disease or severe disability" (Santrock, 2012). The whole idea of euthanasia is to end the pain and suffering of a person instead of letting them go through the rest of their life awaiting a slow, painful, and oftentimes, undignified death.…

Do people with incurable diseases or who are suffering great pain have a moral right to take their own lives? The term “assisted suicide” is defined as: the practice of a physician prescribing legal drugs that allow terminally ill patients to end their own lives. In assisted suicide, the physician only provides the drugs, not administer them. I think that assisted suicide should be legalized and it is a humane way to end pain and suffering for someone who is terminally ill because, it offers terminally ill people an opportunity for a peaceful death.…

Someone once asked if using Euthanasia on animals was the same as using it on humans saying quote “If we use Euthanasia to put animals out of their pain and misery why is that not the same as helping Grandma by not letting her suffer anymore?”3 Animals and humans are vastly different. The main thing that sets humans apart is the fact that they have a soul, whereas animals do not. Ending the life of a human because they no longer see a reason to live is a horrible alternative to seeking available pain management. Human life is sacred and should not be terminated…

The decision for euthanasia is a pure moral decision; one that brings with it both positive and negative consequences. The main leading argument is that it allows those who will severely suffer to alleviate their pain before they ultimately pass. This assisted death puts less of a strain on medical supplies and allows the patient to die rather than remain in pain. Contrary, some argue that we do not have the humane…

If you were diagnosed with a terminal illness and were in extreme pain, would you want to wait out the death sentence? Euthanasia, mentioned in Compton’s by Britannica, is the ending of a patient’s life willingly usually when he or she is given a set amount of time to live or is not able to get better. This form of treatment has not become a legal practice in the United States but rather an individual state problem (3). Due to suffering and medical costs, terminally ill patients should have the right to perform a physician-assisted suicide.…

Like many other words in our English language euthanasia is Greek rooted eu, it means good and then thanasia means death, combined they mean “good death”. Take a moment and consider you have an illness and the doctors have just informed you it is terminal and you have only four weeks to live. They then tell you that during those four weeks you are going to be in continual excruciating pain and unbearable agony, and that no matter what pain medication they gave you there was nothing that would give you even a moment of relief. What would you do? If you decided to take action would it be in the form of an injection, a handful of pills, or maybe jump of a building? Euthanasia would mean either choosing to inject your-self with something or swallow a pill, obviously hoping to have a “good death” jumping of a high building would not be the best choice.…

Many people see death is a bad thing. People don't like it and they don't want to hear about it. For many seriously ill and vegetative patients, death is a good thing for them. Death will end their suffering from pains and they can also die with dignity. Euthanasia traditionally means a "good death." The term has traditionally been used to refer to the hastening of a suffering person's death or "mercy killing." The legalization of euthanasia is important for the patient because it would give dying people a choice to determine if they want to fight the disease or end their suffering.…
