A. 65 years ago , in 1937 , Toyota Motor Corporation was founded first as a subsidiary of Toyota Automatic Works, one of the largest manufacturers of knitting machines led by the "King of Inventions " Sakichi Toyoda . To date , Toyota is the second largest automaker in units sold and net sales. It is by far the largest Japanese car manufacturer , producing more than 4.5 million vehicles per year , equivalent to one every six seconds. But like any company , on the way there have been painful events . In 1950 Toyota suffered its first and only strike. Workers and direction out of this situation with the firm conviction that it was necessary to establish the principles of mutual trust and dependence. This is the philosophy that guides the company today. In addition to manufacturing , Toyota has an extensive network of facilities design and research and development including the three largest markets , Japan, North America and Europe. Over a long period of time, Toyota was at the top with their sales and their great success in selling their products and generate. So much so that step by General Motors as the manufacturer of world 's largest automaker. But as often happens, their sales went down to see reports that some cars remained fast. Throughout this litigation, Toyota sales were down 16% and sales of cars like the Corolla and Camry froze to study what was happening with these cars. With these events the company General Motors was in bankruptcy, and its sales were up 8%. In March 2010, Toyota returned to be successful in having great sales and customers were buying new Toyotas and put their trust in their ability to produce reliable cars.
