Office of Admission and Aid
Dear Sir/Madame,
First of all, I want to thank the Ateneo de Manila University for giving us the opportunity to apply for financial aid for my son’s college education.
My name is Jerson C. Gayeta, 54 yrs. old, my wife’s name is Verlina. We have 5 children, all are studying, the eldest and my only son is in 4th high school while the youngest who are twins are in Grade 6.
I have been unemployed for the past 4 years since 2009. I’ve been applying for a job from time to time but to no avail. The reason maybe is because of my age or there is too much competition. The source of our family income relies on my wife’s salary . At present, our financial condition is very tight, the expenses arising from the children’s schooling and the cost of our daily living is hardly met. We sustained our expenses by using the credit card facility of my wife, now with an outstanding balance of P110 thousand plus. This will also explain how we cover our family expenses vs. family income.
To date, my family lives at my mother’s house in Pasay City. The lot where the house stood was a benefit from the government. It was granted to my father (+) by way of rights. There is no land title yet which means that the government still has the right to take it back anytime. We have been living here as a family since I got married. We are dreaming to have our own house and lot in the future, but obviously we cannot afford it right now. Getting a home loan will further tighten our cash flow and might jeopardize the more important needs of our children (education & health). We are ordinary family, living a simple lifestyle.
The above situations prompted me to apply for financial aid that you are giving to deserving students. Again, we thank you for this chance to apply, granting us the financial aid will definitely alleviate our financial difficulty.
Sincerely,
Jerson C.
