Atmospheric Issues 1
Choose one of the following atmospheric issues: air pollution, global warming, ozone depletion, and acid deposition. Then, respond to the following:
What air pollutants combine and contribute to this issue?
Briefly describe the health and environmental problems caused by the selected atmospheric issue.
Provide one key solution to help either reduce the effects or recover from the effects of the selected issue

Air pollutants that combine and contribute to Air pollution are mainly chemicals that are released into the air and ozone. These chemicals are both primary and secondary pollutants. Primary pollutants are chemicals that are released directly from human or natural activities. Secondary pollutants are when those harmful chemicals from primary pollutants react to one another in an even more harmful way.

Health problems that are caused by air pollution vary depending on the individual. The most common being respiratory problems where a person may have a difficult time breathing, much like people with asthma. Respiratory problems could very well be issues with the lungs or even disease or cancer. Another health issue could very well be allergies for an individual due to air pollution.

Environmental problems associated with air pollution can be a number of things but the main one being smog. Smog is associated with the sunlight as well as the air pollution. Smog is due to the overall chemical reaction of both sunlight and air pollution. Smog also releases more harmful chemicals into the air causing that much more air pollution, especially in industrial areas.

The one key solution I can think of to help reduce air pollution is to continue to do research and have better guidelines for industries that do create a lot of air pollutions. If the research is done I am pretty confident that there could be better ways to control the amount of chemicals that are released into the air. I do believe the auto industry is on a great path to researching and coming up with new vehicles that are environmentally friendly. All it takes is research and a good panel of people who believe they can help change our ways of living and providing each of us as individuals and business to having a good and safe environment.

The atmospheric issue that I chose was global warming. The air pollutants that combine and contribute to this issue are Chlorofluorocarbons, carbon dioxide, and nitrous oxide. They accumulate in the air as a result of human activity. The effects of global warming can affect our wildlife. If we continue to have severe weather, we will have more heat related deaths. The dirty air could cause more cases of asthma and allergies.…

Air pollution is the initiation of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or damages the natural environment into the atmosphere. Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, fumes, dust, or other harmful agents. According to Morgan (2003), air pollution was not a problem until the 19th century and Industrial Revolution because pollution was readily diluted in the atmosphere (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 247). Air pollution occurs in many forms but can generally be thought of as gaseous and particulate contaminants that are present in the earth 's atmosphere (Air Pollution - Its Nature, Sources, and Effects, 2013). Natural sources of air pollution include forest fires, dust storms, and volcanic eruptions (Morgan, Environmental Health, 2003, p. 249).…

This air pollution carries significant risks for human health and the environment. Through clean vehicle and fuel technologies, we can significantly reduce air pollution from our cars and trucks, while cutting projected U.S. oil use in half within the next 20 years. Cars and trucks produce air pollution throughout their life, including pollution emitted during vehicle operation, refueling, manufacturing, and disposal. Additional emissions are associated with the refining and distribution of vehicle fuel.…

    Solution for Air Pollution

Air pollution is perhaps the biggest environmental issue the Earth is facing. Automobiles are responsible for a notable amount of the air pollution problem. Of course, on the other hand so are factories. If the fight against air pollution were to be taken to a higher level, putting pressure on factories that produce air pollution will have a greater effect than focusing on automobiles. The solution for problems caused by automobiles can only be taken to the level of removing vehicles off the road that cause excessive pollution. A campaign to promote car-pooling, and the use of public transportation could be started up, but those types of promotions do not get enough support. Clearly, factories should be targeted for the best results. The environmental policies that the government regulates for factories or other companies who produce air pollution must be made stricter. Factories are causing enormous amounts of air pollution, the air in most metropolitan areas is filled with pollutants, and passing laws that are more strictly enforced could have a positive effect on the situation.…
