Unfortunately many people died due to radiation, which the United States did not know would happen. The reason we did not know that the radiation would be a massive problem is because that the technology was new and it had only ever been used on a New Mexico desert before and this happened not very long before America dropped the bombs on Japan. Some would argue that thousands of innocent Japanese people were killed in the nuclear bombings. On the Contrary, more lives would have been lost if America had not dropped the bombs. An estimated 1 million American lives would have been lost along with an estimated 2 million Japanese lives in the case of a full invasion of Japan by the Allies and the Soviets. The Japanese military was preparing to militarize the citizens by manufacturing guns that could only be fired about 3 times before breaking to be shot as Americans walked past (White).
The atomic bombing of Japan by the United States was Justified. Had the United States not dropped the atomic bombs on Japan the war would have ended with far more casualties on both
