Home is a place central to relationships and therefore family and a sense of belonging. In the poem both sense of belonging and no-belonging the Skrzynecki`s felt are revealed. Peter opens the poem nostalgically, `for nineteen years` and `each morning` in a repetitive way that reinforces a regular, comfortable and homely existence. The adjectival phrase, `under a rusty bucket` represents the longevity of their time living in the house which suggests a place where they feel they belong and are secure as they hide the key under a bucket. Moreover, the simile `like adopted children ‘reveals the effort and devotion of the poet`s parents to their special children. The description of the house, painted in a `china-blue coat` suggests protection from a harsh environment. However their ability to feel a lasting sense of safety is taken away by the council`s decision to pull down the house, thus we see that while belonging is attached to places of significance, it can be impermanent and affected by forces beyond our control. The communal haven of togetherness, ‘we lived together` characterizes the author`s firm connection with his family. Thus we see that belonging amongst people with similar experiences and relationships is illustrated through positive allusions, using, `head discussions and embracing gestures`.…

By much research, ATT has had opposition in the past which at times would end up in merger with another company. Many times small phone companies can not compete with ATT and thus kneel to them and soon become a part of the family of the biggest telecommunications giant this world has ever seen. We can see by the current merger of SBC and the Global name of ATT has given the public a misconception that ATT was bought out yet in all fairness it seems that ATT had the upper hand due to it’s strong name known all around the world. This was considered a weakness in my review. But this weakness can actually be strength due to the bonding and assets of two companies that really once was the same ATT we seen fifteen years ago when the Telecommunications act in 1996 prevented ATT from being a world conglomerate (Sirota 1999). Another weakness that can be said of ATT is their lack of Voice over Internet Protocol. Many companies have gone and used the internet to give people the chance it’s full potential and incur long distance charges. This has left ATT astounded due to the fact a missed opportunity went below the radar (Dinan 2008).…

All the characters faced issues, including Fredrik’s family that are perceived as the most “normal.” For example, Elisabeth’s husband is abusive; Tet is caught up with divorced parents; Fredrik’s dad masturbates in the basement. Moodysson conveys despite Scandinavia’s façade and notoriety for its egalitarian idealism, the reality is not as glamorous. The Scandinavian society is also prone to set backs, but what is important is how they address these issues and continue to progress. In addition, despite the individual’s differences, they can embrace each other as a community.…

Religion has become deeply ingrained into their society. In The Code of Edmund a killer must pay debt to the victims’ family and seek forgiveness by the church. The family of the fallen cannot seek vengeance for they have to turn the other cheek or suffer the king’s wrath. Religion was also used as a means to gain power and a means to control their realm. They also believed that all things good or bad are given to you by God. While his country was being destroyed Alcuin of York wrote to the King Erthelred that his city is being destroyed but only because it’s people have angered God and continuously broke his laws. The people would also develop an understanding of Heaven and Hell…

In this very popular drama from the playwright Henrik Ibsen, Mrs. Linde and Krogstad make an important contribution to the drama as the subplot of the play “ A doll’s house “. The playwright’s intent of this play was to dramatize Victorian society and it is clear that without these characters help, the main characters would have probably remained stagnant. Nora would have most likely, never would have come to a self-realization of her own lost identity without these subplot characters. Krogstad and Mrs.L. clearly help the main characters in their evolution throughout the drama with the benefit of their own past experiences being similar to Nora’s.…

Skrzynecki establishes the notion of belonging within the family through his portrayal of the family routine and the nurturing nature of the parents. The family’s daily routine is described as “like a well-oiled lock” and emphasised through the use of enjambment. The simile suggests a functional family comfortable and established in their nineteen-year settlement in the community. The nurturing nature of the parents is characterised by the “tended roses and camellias/ Like adopted children. This simile suggests that the garden is personified as family member and indicates the tenderness of the parents. The poem’s persona is rather thoughtless in his treatment of the garden, highlighted by his ravages “like a hungry bird”.…
