Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
When people suffer with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), their lively hood is majorly influenced by it. ADHD can affect people in their family lives, school performance, work performance, and can cause low self-esteem. The three major ways a person who suffers with ADHD are affected personally are it causes difficulty maintain attention, hyperactivity, and causes impulse behaviors that are normally regretted. ADHD usually starts in early childhood, but sometimes it is not recognized until adulthood. It was previously believed that ADHD was limited to childhood, but through various research projects scientist and psychologist have been able to prove otherwise. As most psychological disorders, there are successful treatment plans for people who suffer with this disorder. The major two treatments for ADHD are stimulant drugs and psychological counseling ("ADHD," 2013).
When an individual is suffering with ADHD, he/she will display the following symptoms: trouble focusing, restlessness, impulsivity, difficulty completing tasks, disorganization, low frustration tolerance, frequent mood swings, hot temper, trouble coping with stress, and unstable relationships. It is perfectly normal for everyone to experience some of these symptoms at some point during life. Having some of these symptoms does not subject an individual to this disorder, but once these symptoms begin to occur frequently, then it may be time to talk to a professional. It is not uncommon for a person who is suffering with ADHD to have other psychological conditions such as depression or anxiety ("ADHD," 2013).
The exact cause of ADHD is still unclear, but psychologists have narrowed it down to genetics, nutrition, environment, brain injury, exposure to lead based products, and there are some other possible contributors as well. Once
