Attitudes toward Religious Truths

There are many attitudes towards religious truth. Living in America and being able to be any religion that you choose gives people the opportunity to have different attitudes towards religion! I am going to focus on two different views for this paper. My first is the Christian view and my second is the Muslim View.

When discussing Christian behavior, we are first discussing one's that have accepted Jesus Christ to be their savior. Two significant qualities Christians should have are for one to be knowledgeable. According to Ephesians Chapter 2 :10, Christians are “God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do go works.” This means, through a Christian perspective we are created in God's image and we are to do go works and good things. We are to be his prophets, spread the Gospel! In order to be good prophets and good workers we have to be knowledgeable about the work we are doing, and in this case spreading the word of Jesus. Knowing and understanding God's word will be the only way to get others to know and understand about Jesus Christ himself. This makes their behavior Christian, because as stated in their Holy Book, they are to do good works. Peter, in Philippians 4:7 said, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.” Thus meaning, understanding God's word will keep you moving in the direction Jesus would want you to move. “ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
A second attribute a Christian should uphold is forgiveness. Also in Ephesians 4:32 it states, “ And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” This characteristic, value means that we have to simply forgive others, for their wrongdoing against us. As Christians, you have to be humble and have faith that God will take care of the situation. Christians believe Jesus died on the cross for their sins, every sin they will ever make. Because of that, if they believe Jesus Christ came down to save them, and that God sent his only son to save them in order to have salvation, they should be able to be humble and forgive others for their trust passing against them. This is connecting to their relationship of their faith to their behavior. They are behaving just as their Savior did, forgiving others.
Christians are distinctive from Buddhist because Buddhist believe all life is suffering, for Christians they are born sinners, and that is why God sent his Son, Jesus Christ down, to be crucified on the cross to take on every human beings sin. Also a difference between these two practices is within Buddhism they follow teachings from Buddha, while Christianity is a monotheistic religion they also have the Trinity which is The Father (God), the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.
What would make Christians “better” than others is when dealing with other religions and prophecies, none are 100% accurate to the ones in the Bible. Also in Christianity there are accurate transmissions of the gospels.

Two qualities a follower of the Islamic religion would posses are truthfulness and unselfishness. A Muslim who posses these qualitative would be an ideal follower. In the Holy Quaran 33:70, it states, “O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and speak straight, true words.” In the Five Pillars of Faith, one pillar is to confession. Confess that Allah is your only God. Doing good in practice it grounds of having the correct belief in your heart. A great quality to acquire is being unselfish. Another pillar of faith is charity, giving to the poor or even orphans. "You cannot attain to righteousness unless you spend (in charity) out of those things which you love." (3:91) . Allah, wants you to do good works and deeds and give to others, not only the poor but relatives also. It is important for this religion to always know that all things belong to Allah. Be moderate, and those in need help. "Do good to others, surely Allah loves those who do good to others." (2:195)
Their relationship of their religion to their behavior, is to do the right things. Their religion is how they take on day to day challenges and everyday duties. The Five Pillars of Faith is their guidance on how they should behaving, and what they should be doing just as he Ten Commandments for the Christians.
Muslims are similar to Christians in many ways, they are both monotheistic religions. But there are differences in these two particular religions. For one, they call their leader “Allah”, their teachings are from the prophet Muhammad. Although, they do believe to Jesus to be a great prophet these religions have different ways they carry themselves.
