Yes, we do think that performance is the criteria most used in practice. Because, most of the companies will determine how much salary they will pay according to how much benefit that a company can get from an employee.
2. “Recognition may be motivational for the moment but it does not have any staying power. It is an empty reinforce. Why? Because when you go to grocery store, they do not take recognition as a form of payment!” Do you agree or disagree? Discuss.
We disagree with the statement that recognition may be motivational for a short term. Because a person will likely to take a job that could benefit him/her from inside and also outside. Most likely a person that have recognized as an important person in the job will have self-fulfillment and will be most likely to be self-motivated as well. But, if the company only fulfill the external need like money, people will come and go easily as long as they have found another job that can pay them more.
3. “Performance can’t be measured, so any effort to link pay with performance is a fantasy. Differences in performance are often caused by the system, which means the organization ends up rewarding the circumstances. It is the same thing as rewarding the weather forecaster for a pleasant day.” Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Support your opinion.
