Thank you forgiving me the chance to spend a good amount of money on the things that matter in America. Although some people may think this an easy task, I would like to let them know that it was quite difficult. However, after a long time of thinking, I have decided that women's suffrage, child labor, and deforestation are the problems that need to be helped the most.
Women's suffrage will get your first offering of 600,000 dollars. Jane Adams made a valid point in saying that mothers deserve to have a ballet (vote). Firstly, she believes women would not choose corrupt leaders. Finally, without women voters, our nation will never be able to get safe child labor nor healthy food laws.
300,000 dollars would go to children labor laws. Lewis Hine's picture of the breaker boys is a very dismal image. The idea that children of age 14 are working in dark cramped spaces and that they are using dangerous machinery is scary. Also, the soot and dirt that is in the air gets into the kids lungs. This could stunt there growth and/or shorten their lives. Therefore, I find it very important for kids to have a healthy, growth-filled childhood and is why the 300,000 dollars should go here.
Finally, 100,000 of the dollars should go to fight deforestation. John Muir is right when he says that trees cannot run away from greedy men. America has lost a lot of its untouched forests throughout the year. One of the reasons America is so great is because of its natural beauty. Therefore, if we do not control logging nor create national parks, the rapid logging of wood will continue. If this continues, we will eventually run out of unlogged wood and thus loose one of America's finest treasures.
Jane Adams, Lewis Hines, and John Muir created some bleak and dismal images of what the country really looks like and where it's heading. For this, I admire their fearlessness to publish these stories and I'd like to thank them for it. However, I'd like to thank you
